Section 3. The Milwaukee City Railway Company is also hereby authorized to take up that portion of its track lying on Walnut street between Third and Seventh

streets.

Section 4. The tracks hereby authorized shall be of the gauge of four feet and eight and one-half inches, and shall be constructed, kept, maintained, used and operated in the same manner and upon the same conditions now provided by ordinances of said city in reference to the other tracks of said company's roads, except as to guage, and subject to such reasonable rules and regulations as the common council of said city may hereafter prescribe by ordinance or otherwise.

Section 5. That portion of said railway hereby authorized to be extended from the intersection of Walnut and Seventh streets to the intersection of Eighth and Lee streets, and also that portion of said railway hereby authorized to be extended from the present terminus of said railway on Walnut street to the intersection of Walnut and Twentieth streets, to be built in three years from the date of the passage of this ordinance; and that portion of said railway hereby authorized to be extended from the intersection of Eighth and Lee streets to the city limits on Teutonia street, to be built in five years from the date of the passage of this ordinance; provided, that if said company shall be delayed in the work by the order or injunc tion of any court, or by the tearing up of any portion of said street, whereon said company is hereby authorized to lay its tracks, for the purpose of constructing sewers or laying water pipes, or any other purpose authorized by said city, the time of the delay so caused shall not be reckoned as a part of the time to which said company is hereby limited.

AN ORDINANCE

To amend an ordinance passed May 7th, 1877, entitled "An ordinance to further amend an ordinance entitled an ordinance to authorize the construction and operation of a certain horse railway in the city of Milwaukee," passed June 1, 1874.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Eleventh and
State streets.

Section 1. That section I of the ordinance passed May 7, 1877, entitled "An ordinance to further amend an ordinance to authorize the construction and operation of a certain horse railway in the city of Milwaukee, passed June 1, 1874," is hereby amended by striking out all after the enacting clause, and inserting in lieu thereof as follows: Section 2 of the said ordinance passed June 1, 1874, is hereby amended by inserting the words, "State street, thence westerly along State street," where they were stricken out by said ordinance passed May 7, 1877, so that Section 2 of said ordinance passed June 1, 1874, shall read as follows: Section 2. The said persons hereinbefore mentioned, their successors and assigns, are hereby authorized to lay a single or double track, for such railways along the course of the following streets of the city of Milwaukee, and to extend the same as follows: West Water street, Commencing at the intersection of West Water street and Grand avenue, Spring street, now Grand avenue, in the Fourth ward of said city thence westerly along Spring street and Spring avenue (now Grand avenue) to the center of Eleventh street; also commencing at the intersection of Spring street (now Grand avenue) with the west line of the city limits, thence northerly along said west line of the city limits to the center of State street extended to the city limits, and at or near the toll gate. Also commencing at the intersection of Spring street or Spring avenue (now Grandavenue) and either Tenth or Eleventh street, with the right to connect with the line of railway above mentioned; thence northerly along such street to the center of State street, thence westerly along State street and through and along any public street or highway connecting with the present westerly limit of State street, to the west line of the city limits, and also along any future extension of State street westerly to the west line of the city limits. State and Twelfth Also commencing at the intersection of State street and Twelfth street with the right to connect with the lines of railway hereinbefore mentioned; thence northerly along such street to the center of Vliet street, and thence westerly along Vliet street to the west line of the city limits. And also commencing at the intersection of Vliet and Twelfth streets, with the right to connect with the lines of railway hereinbefore mentioned, thence northerly along Twelfth street to Beaubian street, thence westerly along Beaubian street to and at the intersection with Teutonia

streets.

And also commencing at the intersection of West Water and Wells streets, in the Fourth ward, thence westerly along the center of Wells street to the city limits, with the right to connect with any of the lines of railway hereinbefore mentioned; and it is hereby also expressly prorided, that said persons, their successors and assigns, may within five years from June 1, 1874, take up and remove so much of said railway, or part thereof, as may be built and operated on Spring street, and lay the same on the corresponding part of Wells street. It is also provided that all the railway tracks herein authorized shall be laid on the center of the streets mentioned, and that the company shall keep the street in good repair, not only between the tracks, but also the distance of one foot on the outside of the tracks.

AN ORDINANCE

To authorize the Milwaukee City Railway Company to extend its track.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The Milwaukee City Railway Company is hereby authorized to extend its railway by a single or double track, with all necessary switches and turn-tables, from the intersection of Reed and Washington streets, thence westerly along Washington street to its intersection with Eleventh avenue.

Section 2. The said company shall commence the work of so extending its track within two years after the passage of this ordinance.

Section 3. The tracks hereby authorized shall be constructed, kept, maintained, used and operated in the manner and upon the conditions which are now provided by the ordinances of the city in reference to the other tracks laid by said company. The track must be laid to the exact. grade of the street. That portion of the street occupied by the tracks, and one foot outside of the rails must be macadamized or paved with wooden or stone blocks at the expense of said railway company, and be kept in perfect order by said company, and the cars thereon shall be operated by animal power only; and upon the further condition that whenever the sidewalk of said street shall

be renewed and the roadway thereof widened by order of the common council upon petition or otherwise, said work shall be done at the sole expense of said railway company upon so much of said street, in length, as shall be occupied by the tracks of said company.

Railroad street and

AN ORDINANCE

To grant the Milwaukee City Railway Company further time for laying tracks on Railroad street and Muskego

avenue.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The time for the construction of single or Muskego avenue. double tracks by the Milwaukee City Railway Company on Railroad street and Muskego avenue is hereby extended for the term of two years from September 1, 1880.

Nineteenth street.

Section 2. Said company shall cause the roadway between their said tracks and one foot outside thereof to be paved with wood or macadam pavement, and the cars to be used thereon to be propelled by animal power only. Passed July 7, 1880.

AN ORDINANCE

To authorize the Milwaukee City Railway Company to extend its track.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The Milwaukee City Railway Company is hereby authorized to extend its railway by a single or double track, with all necessary switches and turn-tables, from the intersection of Walnut and Nineteenth streets. thence northerly on Nineteenth street to its intersection with Fond du Lac avenue.

Section 2. The said company shall commence the work of so extending their track within two years after the passage of the ordinance, and shall complete the same within three years after the passage of the ordinance.

Section 3. The track and tracks hereby authorized shall be constructed, kept, maintained, used and operated in the manner and upon the terms and conditions which are now provided by the ordinances of the said city in reference to other tracks laid by said company, and the roadway between the rails shall be paved with wooden blocks or macadamized.

AN ORDINANCE

To change the right of way of the Milwaukee City Railway on certain streets in the Tenth ward, city of Milwaukee.

The mayor and common council of the citw of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The Milwaukee City Railway Cimpany is Hopkins road. hereby authorized to extend its railway by a single or double track, with all necessary switches and turn tables, from the intersection of Center street and the Hopkins road, in and along said Hopkins road to its intersection with Teutonia street.

Section 2. The said company hereby relinquish all its rights on Center street from the intersection of Center street and the Hopkins road, in and along Center street to its intersection with Teutonia street, and on Teutonia street to its intersection with Center street and its intersection with the Hopkins road.

AN ORDINANCE

To extend the time for the commencement of laying the Milwaukee City Railway Company's tracks on Washington street.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The time allowed the Milwaukee City Railway Company to commence the extension of its railway on Washington street, from the intersection of said street and Reed street, is hereby extended for the period of ninety days from the third day of April, 1882.
