Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.

AN ORDINANCE

To permanently establish the grade on the proposed viaduct across the Menominee Valley on the line of Eleventh avenue and Sixteenth street, from Clybourn street to South Pierce street in the Eighth and Sixteenth wards of the city of Milwaukee.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The grade or elevation of the proposed viaduct across the Menominee Valley, on the line of Eleventh avenue and Sixteenth street, from Clybourn street to South Pierce street, in the Eighth and Sixteenth wards of the city of Milwaukee, is hereby fixed and permanently established as follows, assuming as a base the level of the Milwaukee river as it was in the month of March, A. D. 1836.

Section 2. The grade of said viaduct between the points mentioned in the first section of this ordinance to

be on a straight line drawn from point to point.

Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

NOTE. The authority for building this viaduct was conferred by chapter 122, laws of 1891.

XXXII-KIND OF MATERIAL FOR STREETS
AND SIDEWALKS, ETC.

To be paved with stone blocks.

417-AN ORDINANCE

To determine the kind of material to be used in the construction of pavements on the roadways of the following named streets in the city of Milwaukee.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. Whenever the roadway of the following named streets, viz.: East Water street, from Juneau avenue to Oneida street and from Mason street to East Water street bridge; Broadway, from Milwaukee river to Michigan street; Buffalo street, from Beach street to Milwaukee river; West Water street and Third street from Menominee river to Cherry street; Chestnut street, from Milwaukee river to Tenth street; Reed street, from National avenue to Menominee river; Ferry street; Clinton street, from South Water street to Greenfield avenue; South Water street, from Reed street to Lake street; Lake street from Reed street to Broadway bridge, shall need paving or repairing, the material used shall be of stone blocks, approved by the board of public works, said stone blocks not to be less than six inches in depth, laid on a well prepared bed of broken stone or gravel, or both, not less than ten inches in depth, the same to be thoroughly and compactly rolled by a steam roller, and to be made according to specifications of the city engineer.

Section 1. Every person and corporation owning and Sale of tickets for operating any street railway within the limits of the city of Milwaukee, and every conductor in charge of any street car owned and operated by such person or corporation, shall upon demand and payment of the price thereof, sell tickets, each good for one fare, including one transfer, in packages of six for twenty-five cents, twelve for fifty cents and twenty-five for the sum of one dollar.

Section 2. Every such person and corporation, and every conductor in charge of any street car, who shall violate the provisions of the preceding section, shall upon conviction thereof be fined not less than five nor more than twenty-five dollars for each offense.

Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Penalty.

Section 4.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in

force thirty days after its passage and publication.

90-AN ORDINANCE

To amend an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to authorize the construction and operation of a certain street railway in the city of Milwaukee," passed December 19, 1881, as amended by an ordinance passed June 1, 1888, as amended by an ordinance amending an ordinance passed June 1, 1888, entitled "An ordinance amending an ordinance granting certain rights to the Milwaukee Cable Railway Company, passed December 29, 1887.” The mayor and common council of the city of Milwau-· kee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. So much of the ordinance referred to in the title hereof as permits and authorizes the Milwaukee Cable Railway Company, its successors and assigns, to lay a cable track for a street railway on Wells street from West Water street to Sixth street, thence north on Sixth street to Cedar street, and also authorizing said Milwaukee

Eighth street.

Cable Railway Company, its successors and assigns, to lay a cable track for a street railway from the intersection of Sixth and Wells streets west to Eighth street, thence northerly on Eighth street to Cedar street, together with the franchises and privileges therein conferred, is hereby repealed.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
