AN ORDINANCE

To authorize the West Side Railroad Company to extend its tracks.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. There is hereby given and granted to the Washington aveWest Side Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, nue. the right, permission and authority to lay a single or double track for an electric railway in and along the center of Washington avenue, and the same to keep, maintain and use and to operate railway cars and carriages thereon to be propelled by electric power until July 1, 1924, commencing at the intersection of Chestnut street with Washington avenue with the right to connect with its line of railway on Washington avenue, thence northerly on and along Washington avenue to North street.

Section 2. The construction of said tracks shall be commenced within thirty days after the passage and publication of this ordinance and shall be completed within ninety days thereafter. Upon the failure to complete and operate the same as above provided, then all rights hereby granted shall cease and determine.

Section 3. It shall be the duty of said company at all times to keep in good repair the roadway between the rails and for one foot on the outside of each rail as laid on the above described route, and to submit to such reasonable rules and regulations as the common council may from time to time prescribe.

Repair of street.

AN ORDINANCE

Granting to the West Side Railroad Company the right Twelfth street. to extend its tracks to Twelfth street.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. There is hereby given and granted to the West Side Railroad Company, its successors and assigns. the right, permission and authority to extend its tracks on Twelfth street, commencing at the intersection of

Center street with Twelfth street, thence northerly on and along Twelfth street to Burleigh street, and to keep, operate and maintain said road subject to the conditions contained in the ordinance heretofore passed, under which the tracks on Twelfth street are now built and operated.

Section 2. Said tracks shall be built and put in operation on or before the first day of June, 1891.

Burleigh street.

AN ORDINANCE

To authorize the West Side Railroad Company to extend its tracks.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. There is hereby given and granted to the West Side Railroad Company, of the city of Milwaukee, its successors and assigns, the right, privilege and authority to extend its tracks, commencing at the intersection of Burleigh street with Twelfth street, thence westerly on Burleigh street to its intersection with Teutonia street. and to operate cars thereon, subject to the same conditions and provisions as are contained in the ordinance granting said company the right to operate its cars on Twelfth

street.

Section 2. Said road shall be completed and put in operation on or before the first day of August, 1891. Passed October 7, 1890.

AN ORDINANCE

To amend an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to authorize the West Side Railroad Company to extend its tracks," passed June 30, 1890.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. Section 2 of said ordinance is hereby amended by striking out all the words and figures after the word "completed," where it occurs in said section, and inserting in lieu thereof the following words and figures,

to-wit: By the 10th day of November, 1890, so far as Lisbon plank road and the balance within ninety days after the street is cut through and put in order.

AN ORDINANCE

To authorize the West Side Street Railway Company and its successors and assigns to extend its tracks on certain streets mentioned therein, and for other purposes.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. The West Side Street Railway Company Sixth street. and its successors and assigns are hereby given and granted permission to lay a double track for a railway in, along and upon the course of Sixth street, from Sycamore street to Wells street, all in the Fourth ward of the city of Milwaukee.

Section 2. The cost incurred in the widening of Sixth street, from Sycamore street to Grand avenue, to be borne by the said West Side Street Railway Company.

Section 3. This ordinance is passed upon the condition and subject to the agreement upon the part of the West Side Street Railway Company that it will surrender any and all rights which it may have to place or operate its tracks upon Fourth street, between Grand avenue and Sycamore street, in the said Fourth ward.

Section 4. The right heretofore granted the said West Side Street Railway Company by an ordinance passed April 19, 1892, to extend its tracks on Sycamore street, from Sixth street easterly to Third street, in the said Fourth ward, shall cease and determine in case said West Side Street Railway Company shall construct the line authorized by this ordinance.

196-AN ORDINANCE

To repeal an ordinance entitled "An ordinance granting certain rights to the West Side Street Railway Company," passed Jan. 19, 1895.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

R. R. Co. to pay for widening street.

Conditions.

Section 1. An ordinance, the title of which is recited in the title hereof, is hereby repealed.

XVIII. MILWAUKEE CABLE RAILWAY CO.

AN ORDINANCE

To authorize the construction and operation of a certain street railway in the city of Milwaukee.

The mayor and common council of the city of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Section 1. There is hereby given and granted to the Milwaukee Cable Railway Company, a corporation created by and existing under the laws of the state of Wisconsin, and to its successors and assigns, the right, permission and authority to lay a double track for a street railway, with all necessary and convenient tracks, connections, turn-outs, side-tracks, switches and turn-tables in and along the course of the streets and bridges in the city of Milwaukee, hereinafter mentioned, and the same to use, occupy, maintain and operate thereon railway cars or carriages, in the manner and upon the conditions hereinafter provided, including the right, subject to the provisions hereof, to at all times make necessary excavations, ditches and trenches, and to lay therein all necessary and convenient pipes and cables, and make all necessary sewer connections, for and during the term commencing at the passage and publication of this ordinance, and ending July 1st, 1924.

Section 2. The said Milwaukee Cable Railway Company aforesaid, its successors and assigns, are hereby authorized to lay a double track with connections, tracks, side-tracks, turn-tables, excavations and tables for such railway in and along the course of the following streets of the city of Milwaukee, to-wit:

Commencing at the intersection of Michigan and Milwaukee streets, in the Third ward of the said city; thence north on Milwaukee street to its intersection with Oneida street; thence west on Oneida street to the easterly approach of Oneida street bridge; thence westerly along

and across said approach to Oneida street bridge; thence across Oneida street bridge to the westerly approach thereto; thence across and along said westerly approach to Wells street; thence westerly on Wells street to Seventh street; thence northerly on Seventh street to State street; thence westerly on State street to the westerly limits of said city. Also a branch or extension thereof, commencing at a point in said railway at the intersection of said State street with Eighteenth street; thence north on Eighteenth street to its intersection with Center street; thence westerly on Center street to its intersection with the extension of Eighteenth street; thence north on Eighteenth street to its intersection with Hopkins sreet; thence northwesterly on said Hopkins street to the northerly limits of said city; and also the further right to use, for the purposes of said railway the tracks of the Milwaukee City Railway now laid and in operation on Lake street and Michigan street, in the said Third ward, from a point opposite and adjacent to the Chicago & Northwestern Passenger Depot; thence southerly on and along Lake street to the intersection of said Lake street with Michigan street, and thence westerly on said Michigan street to its intersection with said Milwaukee street with the right to make connections with its railway on Milwaukee street, as hereinbefore authorized to be laid and operated, which use and operation of the tracks of the Milwaukee City Railway hereinbefore granted shall be in accordance with and subject to the provisions of the ordinance of said city granting to the Milwaukee City Railway the right to lay and operate a street railway on said last named streets, approved April 5th, 1887.

Section 3. At least twenty-four hours before the opening of any street or public place, the said corporation shall notify the Board of Public Works or such other officer or officers, or department or departments of the city of Milwaukee, as may hereafter perform the duties of said Board of Public Works, in writing, of such intention, stating the street where and the object for which such opening is to be made, and in the opening and refilling of all the openings made as aforesaid, the relaying of pavements and all other necessary work to complete the restoration of the street and pavement to as equally good condition as before disturbed, said corporation and its servants and employes shall be under the supervision and direction of the Board of Public Works or its authorized agents,
