This book reveals an astonishing side to DFW that I had not known about, but which in light of "The Broom of The System" I should have found unsurprising.
And yet, as Edna Mode put it, here we are, darling.
In any case, this book is on the short list of stuff you should read if you are curious about mathematics, especially the history of maths.
Particularly lucid, Errol-Morris-like off-center piecewise parsing out of the nuggets of meaning, relieving them of the dross of pop-sci culture, and considering them in their frightful, abstract bareness, so that you, like Euclid, can look on beauty bare.
