Chap. 3.

AN ACT authorizing the payment to the widow of John Morrissey of his salary as senator for the session of eighteen hundred and seventy-eight.

PASSED January 18, 1879; by a two-third vote. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to pay to the widow of the Honorable John Morrissey, late senator from the seventh district, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars, that being the amount due the said John Morrissey, and which was not drawn by him.

§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 4.

AN ACT to change the corporate name of the Thousand Island Camp Meeting Association, in the county of Jefferson.

PASSED January 18, 1879.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The corporate name of the Thousand Island Camp Meeting Association, in the county of Jefferson, is hereby changed to and shall hereafter be known and designated as the Thousand Island Park Association.

§ 2. Nothing in this act shall be so construed as to affect any suit at law, or otherwise, now pending, in which said association is a party, nor to impair any contract, lease, sale or obligation of any kind or nature heretofore made or entered into by said association.

§ 3. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 5.

AN ACT amending chapter two hundred and twenty-three of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and seventyeight, entitled "An act regulating the term of office of supervisors in the counties of Otsego, Steuben and Livingston." PASSED January 18, 1879.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section one of chapter two hundred and twenty-three of the laws of one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight, entitled "An act regulating the term of office of supervisors in the counties of Otsego, Steuben and Livingston," is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§ 1. The term of office of the supervisors of the several towns in the Term of counties of Steuben and Livingston, after the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, shall be two years.

§ 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby Repeal. repealed.

AN ACT to amend chapter two hundred and sixty-seven of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the city of Rochester, passed April eight, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, in relation to assessments to schools, the powers and duties of the common council and other officers therein, and to require the Rochester Gas Light Company to extend their mains.'”

PASSED January 21, 1879; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section two of chapter two hundred and sixty-seven of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the city of Rochester, passed April eight, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, in relation to assessments to schools, the powers and duties of the common council and other officers therein, and to require the Rochester Gas Light Company to extend their mains,'” is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

AN ACT to extend the time for the collection of taxes in the town of Pittsfield, in the county of Otsego.

PASSED January 25, 1879; three-fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION. 1. The time for the collection of taxes now levied and uncolof taxes lected in and upon the town of Pittsfield, by the board of supervisors extended. of the county of Otsego, at their last annual session, is hereby extended to the first day of June next. And the warrant now in the hands of the collector of said town, and the person who received the same from the supervisor of said town, shall continue in force and effect until said first day of June next. And the said collectors shall and may collect all taxes now unpaid on said warrant, assessment and levy as aforesaid before said first day of June next, and shall pay the moneys over, Proviso. when collected, as in his said warrant he is directed. But nothing herein contained shall be construed as extending the time for the payment of the State tax, or any part thereof, by the county treasurer of said county to the comptroller as now provided by law.

Chap. 8.

AN ACT to legalize and confirm the official acts of William
R. Wadsworth, a justice of the peace, of the town of West
Turin, in the county of Lewis.

PASSED January 25, 1879; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. All the official ac.s and proceedings by or before William acts legal- R. Wadsworth, as a justice of the peace in and for the town of West Turin in the county of Lewis, since the commencement of the term of office for which he was elected, to wit: January first, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, to September tenth, eighteen hundred and seventyeight, are hereby legalized and confirmed and shall have the same force and validity as if the said William R. Wadsworth had taken and filed his oath of office within the time required by law.

§ 2. Nothing in this act shall affect any suit now pending, or any right now vested or acquired by reason of such acts or proceedings. §3. This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to amend chapter one hundred and forty of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the Firemen's Benevolent Association of Rochester, and the Fire Department of the city of Rochester."

PASSED January 25, 1879; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section three of chapter one hundred and forty of the laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-four, entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the Firemen's Benevolent Association of Rochester, and the Fire Department of the city of Rochester," is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§3. § 2. Section nine of said act is hereby amended to read as follows: Erection § 9.
