CHAPTER 125.

AN ACT to repeal chapter 202, laws of 1887, entitled "An act to provide for the appointment and duties of the register of probate of Winnebago county," and also to repeal chapter 214 of the laws of 1889, entitled "An act to provide a salary for the register of probate of Winnebago county," and to provide for the election, duties and salary of the register of probate for Winnebago county, Wisconsin.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. There shall be in Winnebago Register of county an officer of the county court of said nebago county, county, whose official title shall be "register of election of. probate," who shall be elected on the first Tuesday in April, 1891, and who shall hold his office until the first Monday in January, 1893; the said register of probate, after said first election, to be elected at the same time and in the same manner as other county officers; his term of office to commence on the first Monday of January next succeeding his election, and to continue for two years. The said register of probate shall take the oath of office prescribed by the constitution, and shall give a bond in the sum of two thousand dollars, approved by the county judge, with conditions substantially in the form required in the bond of the clerk of the circuit court, which oath and bond shall be filed and kept in the same manner as the oath and bonds of the clerk of the circuit court of said county.

SECTION 2. The said register of probate shall be salary. allowed and paid a yearly salary of twelve hundred dollars, which shall be paid from the county treasury of said county in the same manner as the salaries of other county officers; the same shall be in full compensation for all the duties of said office, and no fees of office or other compensation shall be received by said register of probate.

SECTION 3. The register of probate in said county shall have the care and custody of all books, files, papers and records of the said county court in probate. He shall file all papers and make all such entries and records of the papers and proceedings in said court as are required by law and the rules and practice of said court. He shall issue all letters, warrants, citations and processes which may be ordered or directed by said court, attested in the name of the judge, and sealed with the seal of said court. He may administer oaths in all matters pending in or to be presented to said court, and give under the seal of said court certified copies of all documents, papers or records in his custody as such officer to any person entitled thereto. Said register of probate to hold no other other office while he is register of probate.

SECTION 4. Chapter 202 of the laws of Wisconsin for 1887, and chapter 214 of the laws of Wisconsin for 1889, are hereby repealed.

SECTION 5. All acts or parts of acts, so far only as the same conflict or are inconsistent with the provisions of this act, are hereby repealed.

SECTION 6. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved March 31, 1891.

CHAPTER 126.

AN ACT to legalize the acts of D. J. Foster, a justice of the peace within and for St. Croix county.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The acts, doings and proceedings of the peace, of D. J. Foster as a justice of the peace within St. Croix Co., and for the county of St. Croix, in this state, since the 1st day of May, 1890, are hereby in all things

legalized.

legalized and declared to be valid and binding, to the same extent as if said D. J. Foster had complied with all the provisions of law, in qualifying for said office of justice of the peace.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.

CHAPTER 127.

AN ACT to amend chapter 221 of the laws of 1883, relating to corporations.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

1883.

SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 221 of the laws Amends chapof 1883 is hereby amended by inserting in line ter 221, laws of ten of said section, after the word heretofore, the words "or hereafter," so that said section, when so amended, shall read as follows: Section 1. Any corporation organized under chapter 86 of the revised statutes of this state for the year 1878, and the acts amendatory thereof, or under any other law of this state for the same purposes, or any such corporation carrying on any of the branches of business specified in said chapter 86, may take and acquire, by lease, pur- rights, tranchase, sale, conveyance or assignment, and there- heretofore or after own, hold and enjoy any right, privilege or granted to any franchise heretofore or hereafter granted to or person or perconferred upon any person or persons whomsoever by any law of this state in all cases where such right, privilege or franchise would be in direct aid of the business for which such corporation so acquiring or purchasing the same was organized.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved March 31, 1891.

CHAPTER 132.

AN ACT to change the boundaries of the towns. of Forest county.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The north half of towship thirty- Pelican Lake five, of range twelve east, is hereby detached from the town of Pelican Lake and attached to the town of Crandon.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect at the date of its publication.

CHAPTER 133.

AN ACT to fix the time of holding the circuit court in the county of Green Lake.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The general terms of the circuit Terms of circourt for the county of Green Lake shall be held cuit court i as follows: On the third Monday in January and county. the second Monday in June in each year.

SECTION 2. All acts in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
