Had to read it for school and thoroughly enjoyed it. A long read but worth it. My favourite characters were Gollum and Gandalf.

Really Good!
This is a wonderful book that intruduced me to the world of J.R.R Tolkien. I first read it when I was ten and loved it. I think that this should be reccomened to every young adult reader.

what a smart piece of work by J,R,R, Tolkien , its one of the best novels i have ever read. It really tempts you to read lord of the rings , Nevertheless perfect job it was.

Excellent young adult introduction to the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. I first read it at 13 or so and loved it. Adult readers will find it entertaining but a little simple. If you're looking for more literary 'meat', try the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, or if you're hardcore, The Silmarillion.
