The regular meetings of the Board are held on the first Friday of each month, at the residence of the Superintendent of the State Institutions in Cranston, and on the third Friday, at the office of the Board, No. 104 North Main street, Room No. 4. Providence.

Board of State Charities and Corrections.

To the Honorable General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island, etc., at its January Session, 1881.

The Board of State Charities and Corrections respectfully present their report for the year ending December 31, 1880, as required by the Public Laws.

Prof. George I. Chace and Mr. Stephen R. Weeden, whose terms of office expired on June 1, and on June 5, respectively, were re-appointed members of the Board, by His Excellency, Governor Littlefield, at the May Session.

Mr. Samuel L. Blaisdell, appointed Superintendent of the State Institutions in Cranston in May, 1876, resigned his position in the autumn, having rendered over four years of valuable services to the State. Mr. Charles H. Hunt, Chief of Police of the city of Providence, was appointed Mr. Blaisdell's successor, and entered upon the duties of the office, November 1, 1880.

Mr. A. H. Tilton resigned the position of Deputy Superintendent of the Workhouse and House of Correction in September; since then the place has been filled temporarily, no person having been nominated by the Superintendent to the Board for appointment.
