III. Provided alfo, and be it further enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Lord High Treasurer, or any Three or more of the Commiffioners of the Treasury for the time being, by Warrant under his or their Hand or Hands from time to time, and at all times hereafter, whenfoever it shall by him or them be thought fit and expedient fo to do, to order and direct all or any of the Acts, Matters or Things which by this Act are required to be done or made by or to Two at the leaft of fuch Commiffioners (Drafts on the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, and Orders for the Sale of Stock standing in the Books of the said Governor and Company only excepted) to be done or made by or to One only of fuch Commiffioners; and every fuch Order and Direction as laft aforefaid fhall be obeyed and obferved by fuch Commiffioners, and all other Perfons what foever; and every A&t, Matter or Thing done or made by or to One only of fuch Commiffioners, in pursuance of any fuch Order or Direction, fhall be as valid and effectual, to all Intents and Purposes, as if the fame had been done or made by or to all fuch Commiffioners; any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithstanding.

IV. And be it further enacted, That from and after fuch Appointment, all Certificates, Conveyances, Drafts, Orders, Nominations, Reports and other Matters in Writing whatfoever, to be made by or to the faid Commiffioners, according to the Powers vested in the faid Surveyor General of the Land Revenue of the Crown, or the Surveyors or Surveyor General of His Majefty's Woods, Forefts, Parks and Chafes, by any Act or Acts of Parliament now in force, fhall and may be made according to the Forms prescribed or fet forth in fuch Act or Acts of Parliament, fubftituting only the Title of the faid Commiffioners, in the Place of the Title of the Officer, Seals, &c.of Two in fuch Forms mentioned; and the Seals and Seal, and Signatures

and Signature, or the Signatures or Signature only (as the Cafe may be) of any Two or (in Cafes where the fame shall be so ordered and directed by the Lord High Treasurer, or any Three or more of the Commiffioners of the Treasury, according to the Power herein contained) of any One of the Commiffioners fo to be appointed as aforefaid, to any fuch Certificate, Conveyance, Draft, Order, Nomination or other Matter in Writing, fhall be as valid and effectual as if the fame were figned and fealed, or figned only (as the Cafe may be) by the Whole of fuch Commiffioners; and that all Certificates and Reports which by any Act of Parliament now in being were required to be made by the Surveyor General of the Land Revenue of the Crown, or the Surveyor General of His Majesty's Woods, Forefts, Parks and Chafes, fhall be and the fame are hereby required to be made by the faid Commiffioners or any Two of them, or (in Cafes where the fame fhall be fo ordered and directed as aforefaid, according to the Power herein contained) by any One of them, at fuch time and times, and in fuch Manner and Form as the faid Surveyors or either of them were or was required to make the fame.

V. And be it further enacted, That any of the faid Commis fioners fo to be appointed as aforefaid, fhall, before he prefumes to act in purfuance of fuch Appointment, take the following Oath, to be adminiftered by the Chief Baron, or One other of the Barons of His Majefty's Court of Exchequer; (that is to fay);

Woods, Forefts and Land Revenue, and that I will not for the
Execution thereof, or on any other Account or Pretext whatfo-
ever, receive, take or accept, in refpect of the faid Office, at any
time, any Emolument, pecuniary or other, except or beyond the
Salary allowed by a certain Act of Parliament, intituled, An A&
for uniting the feveral Offices of Surveyor General of the Land Re-
venues of the Crown, and Surveyor General of His Majefty's Woods,
Forefts, Parks and Chafes.'

VI. And be it further enacted, That in lieu of all Salaries, Wages, Salaries of Fees, Perquifites and Emoluments heretofore paid to or received, Commitioners. retained, had or enjoyed by the faid Surveyors General or either of them, His Majefty may, by fuch Letters Patent as aforefaid, grant to the feveral Perfons therein named the following Salaries and Allowances; (that is to fay) to the Perfon first named therein, who fhall be Chairman of the Commiffion, a Salary of Two thoufand Pounds per Annum, and to the other Commiffioners a Salary of One thousand two hundred Pounds per Annum each, which Salaries fhall be clear of all Fees and Deductions; One Moiety of fuch refpective Salaries to be paid in fuch manner as the Salary of the Surveyor General of Woods and Forefts, and the other Moiety thereof refpectively in fuch manner as the Salary of the Surveyor General of the Land Revenue have heretofore been paid; and the Salary of every fuch Commiffioner fhall commence and be computed from the Day of the Date of his Appointment, and be received from time to time as the fame fhall become due by quarterly Payments; and if any fuch Commiffioner fhall happen to be removed from his faid. Office, or to die after any of the aforefaid Days of Payment, and before another of the fame Days of Payment fhall occur, then fuch Salary fhall be computed by the Day, and fhall be paid to fuch Commiffioner, his Executors or Adminiftrators, for fo many Days as the faid Office fhall have been exercised by such Commiffioner from the time of the laft preceding Day of Payment of the faid Salary.

VII. Leafes, and upon Searches for and Copies of Leafes, Grants or
other Documents belonging or relating to the faid feveral Offices or
any or either of them, or which may be in the Cuftody of the faid

ment as aforefaid, then, and in every such Cafe, the Fees which would
have been payable to the Surveyor General of the Land Revenue of

the Crown by the Leffee, Purchafer or Perfon making the Exchange, if this Act had not been made, fhall be paid by any fuch Leffee, Purchaser or, Perfon making Exchange, into the Hands of the faid Commiffioners, to be by them accounted for in the like manner as is hereinbefore directed with respect to Fees payable upon the Affignments of Leafes, Searches and Copies hereinbefore mentioned.

VIII. And be it further enacted, That notwithstanding any fuch Appointment of Commiffioners to be made in purfuance of this Act, all Deputies, Clerks, Officers, Minifters and Surveyors whatfoever, theretofore lawfully appointed to and then exercifing or enjoying their refpective Offices, fhall remain and continue in their refpective Offices, and in the Exercife and Enjoyment thereof, until they fhall be duly removed or otherwife difcharged therefrom; and that it fhall and may be lawful to and for fuch Commiffioners to be fo appointed as aforefaid, or any Two of them, (or in Cafes where the same shall be fo ordered and directed by the Lord High Treasurer, or any Three jor more of the Commiffioners of the Treasury, according to the Power herein contained for any One of them) from time to time, by and with the Confeat and Approbation of the Lords Commiffioners of the Treafury for the time being, or any Three or more of them, to nominate, appoint and remove all fuch Deputies, Clerks, Officers, Minifters and Surveyors, as have been heretofore usually nominated, appointed and removed by the faid Surveyors General, or either of them, and alfo to nominate, appoint and remove, by and with the like Consent and Approbation, all fuch Deputies, Clerks, Offcers, Minifters and Surveyors as have been heretofore ufually nomimated, appointed and removed in that manner, or as fhall be neceffary or proper for the due Execution of this Act; and all and every the Deputies, Clerks, Officers, Minifters and Surveyors, to be fo nominated and appointed as aforefaid, fhall be entitled to, and fhall have, receive and enjoy fuch Salaries refpectively, as the fame Deputies, Clerks, Officers, Minifters and Surveyors, received, enjoyed or were entitled to, on the First Day of January in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight. hundred and nine, or as fhall be in that Behalf from time to time directed by the Lord High Treasurer, or any Three or more of the Commiflioners of the Treasury for the time being; and all fuch Salaries fhall be payable Quarterly, on the Four moft ufual Feasts or Days of Payment of Rent in the Year.

IX. And whereas by an Act made in the Forty eighth Year of His faid Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Ad to improve the Land Revenue of the Crown in England, and alfo of His Majefly's Duchy • of Lancaster, it was, among other Things, enacted, That it should and might be lawful for the Surveyor General of His Majefty's Land Revenue, with the Approbation of and by the Direction of the Lord High Treasurer, or Commiffioners of the Treasury for the time being, or any Three of them, to contract and agree with any Body or Bodies Politick or Corporate, or Person or Perfons holding any Meffuages, Lands, Premifes, Tenements or Hereditaments belonging to the Crown, for the Surrender of any Leafe thereof, or to purchase and buy up any Leafe or the Remainder of any Term of any Leafe, of any Meffuages, Lands, Premifes, Tenements or Hereditaments belonging to the Crown, which might be convenient for the Publick Service, and might by any Three or

more of the Commiffioners of the Treasury for the time being, be deemed eligible to be purchafed or bought up, and to pay the Confideration agreed to be paid for fuch Surrender or Purchase, to the Body or Bodies or Perfon or Perfons entitled thereto, out of any Money arifing from any Sales theretofore made, and which might be velted in the Bank of England, in the Three Pounds per Centum Confolidated Bank Annuities, or which might hereafter arife from any Sale of any Property belonging to the Crown under the fame Act or the Acts therein recited: And whereas the Money arifing from fuch Sales is by Law required to be paid into the Bank of England, and to be afterwards invefted in the Purchase of Three Pounds per Centum Confolidated Bank Annuities, and no exprefs Provifion is made in the faid in part recited Act for the Sale of fuch Annuities, in order to pay the faid Confideration Money; Be it therefore further enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Commiffioners from time to time, as Occafion fhall require, to fell and transfer any fuch Confolidated Bank Annuities as are in the faid in part recited A&t mentioned, and to convert the fame into Morey, in order to pay fuch Confideration Money as aforefaid, and the Governor and Company of the Bank of England are hereby authorized and required to permit Transfers of fuch Confolidated Bank Annuities to be from time to time made by the faid Commiflioners under the Hand of any One or more of the faid Commiffioners: Provided always, that a Note in Writing under the Hands of Two at leaft of the faid Commiffioners, fpecifying the Sum of Money required to be raised, and the Purpose for which the fame is intended to be applied, shall be made out and delivered to the faid Governor and Company, Three Days at the leaft before any fach Transfer fhall be made; and fuch Note fhall be a fufficient Authority and Indemnity to the faid Governor and Company for the Transfer made in pursuance thereof.

X. And be it further enacted, That from and after fuch Appoint. Officers to be ment of Commiffioners as aforefaid. every Officer appointed to any Office by or under the faid Commiffioners fhall take the following Oath, to be administered to him by any One or more of the said Commiffioners, or by any Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate, if any One or more of the faid Commiffioners fhall direct that any fuch Officer fhall be fworn before any Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate, and which Oath may, in any fuch Cafe, be adminiftered by any Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate; (that is to fay)

XI. Afd be it further enacted, That all Surveys, Returns, Reports, Eftimates, Accounts and other Matters and Things whatfoever, which any Officer or other Perfon whatsoever is by any Law

or Statute in force immediately before the paffing of this Act required to transmit, render or deliver to the faid Surveyor General of the Land Revenue of the Crown, or to the faid Surveyors or Surveyor General of His Majefty's Woods, Forefts, Parks and Chafes, fhall from and after fuch Appointment of Commiffioners as aforefaid, be tranfmitted, rendered or delivered to the faid Commiffioners, at such time and times, and in fuch Manner and Form as the fame were or ought to have been tranfmitted, rendered or delivered before the paffing of this Act; and also, that it shall and may be lawful to and for the faid Commiffioners, or any One of them, and they or One of them are and is hereby authorized to receive a Verification, and take an Examination upon Oath, touching and concerning the Matters' of fuch Surveys, Returns, Reports, Eftimates, Accounts and other Matters and Things, of and from every Officer and other Perfon in all Cafes wherein the faid Surveyor General of the Land Revenue of the Crown, or the faid Surveyors or Surveyor General of His Majefty's Woods, Fore!ls, Parks and Chafes, was immediately before the paffing of this Act by Law authorized to do; and if any Officer or other Perfon fhall, in any fuch Verification or Examination upon Oath as aforefaid be guilty of wilful and corrupt Perjury, fuch Officer or other Perfon fo offending shall be liable to be punished in fuch manner as is provided by the different Laws and Statutes now in force for the Punishment of wilful and corrupt Perjury.

• XII. And whereas by a certain Act of Parliament made in the Forty fixth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, An Ad for the better Regulation of the Office of Surveyor General of Woods and Forefts, it was enacted that from and after the paffing of that Act, all Sums of Money, Bills and Drafts received by fuch Surveyor General on account of the Revenue under his Management, fhould, the Day after the fame fhould have been received, or the Day after any Bill should have been accepted, if the fame was not accepted at the Time it was received by the Receiver General, be paid by him into the Hands of the Governor and Com< pany of the Bank of England, for which the Receipt of the Cashier or Cahiers of the faid Governor and Company fhould be a fufficient Discharge; and all fuch Monies, Bills and Drafts fo to paid to the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, fhould be placed to an Account to be raised in the Books of the faid Governor and Company, and to be intituled, "The Account of the "Publick Monies of the Surveyor General of the Woods and Fo"refts," inferting the Name of fuch Surveyor General for the time being And whereas fuch an Account hath been opened, and is now ftanding in the Name of the prefent Surveyor General of the Woods and Forefts; and it is expedient, that upon the Appointment of fuch Commiffioners, the Balance then remaining due upon fuch Account from the faid Governor and Company, and all Bills and Drafts then standing upon fuch Account, and not then paid, fhould be transferred to and placed under the Disposal of the faid • Commiffioners ;" Be it therefore enacted, That upon the Appointment of fuch Commiffioners, the Balance which fhall be then remain veyor General of ing due upon fuch Account from the faid Governor and Company, and all Bills and Drafts then standing upon fuch Account, and not then paid, fhall be forthwith placed to an Account to be raised in the Books of the faid Governor and Company, intituled, "The Account
