Struggling against the hyper-Calvinist mindset of his fellow pastors, Carey led the way to form the Baptist Missionary Society and volunteered himself and his family to pioneer the way to foreign missions. In India, Carey laid the groundwork for almost all aspects of the missionary enterprise: evangelization, education, translation of the Scriptures, publishing, social and cultural influences.
