Strabo wrote the Geographica (also known as the Geography) between the years 17/18 and 23/24. He presents a fascinating picture of how the world appeared to the Greeks and Romans of the late 1st century BCE and early 1st century CE. Strabo's work, which was extremely long, was divided into seventeen books probably by the author himself. Centuries later, August Meineke produced a 3-volume edition of the Greek text of Strabo's Geography. This 1852-53 edition became the standard for the next century and a half, and was reprinted several times. What we have here is the 1866 reprint of the first two volumes, scanned jointly. These first two volumes contain Strabo's introduction, his description of Europe, and his description of the Black Sea/Caspian area. For further details, go to www.strabo.ca.
