Preamble. Act 36 Geo: III CAP. III. An A&t further to continue for a limited time, an A&t paffed in the thirty fixth year of his Majesty's Reign, intituled, " An A&t for making a tem porary provifion for the regulation of trade between this Province and "the United States of America, by land or inland navigation." 66 (25th March, 1805) WHEREAS it is expedient further to continue an Act paffed in the thirty fixth year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, " An A&t for making a temporary "provifion for the regulation of Trade between this Province and the United States of "America, by land or by inland navigation," be it therefore enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legislative Council and Affembly of the Province of Lower Canada, conftituted and affembled by virtue of and under the authority of an A&t of the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act paffed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An A&t for making more effectual "provifion for the Government of the Province of Quebec in North America," and to "make further provifion for the government of the faid Province;" and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the fame, that the faid A&t intituled, "An Act for making a temporary regulation of Trade between this Province and the United States "of America, by land or by inland navigation," and all matters and things therein contained, fhall continue and be in force, until the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fix, and from thence to the end of the then next Seffion of the Provincial Parliament, and no longer. WHEREAS an A&t was paffed in the forty third year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for eftablishing Regulations refpecting Aliens and certain Subjects ACTE qui continue encore, pour un tems limité, un Acte paffé dans la 66 66 " intérieure.” (25e. CA P. V. An ACT for the Relief of the Poor in the loan of Seed Wheat, Corn and other neceffary Grain. [25th March, 1805.] Preamble. HEREAS many Farmers diftreffed by the short harvest of the last year, have confumed for their fupport during the prefent year, what was neceffary for their next Seed and fuch as are able to fpare Seed, for their supplies, may not be willing to truft it to the poorer inhabitants, without indifputable fecurity for the payment thereof at the next ensuing harvest: In tenderness therefore to the diftrefsed, Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legislative Council and Affembly of the Province of Lower Canada, conftituted and affembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, " An A&t to repeal certain parts of an Act paffed in the fourteenth year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, “An A& for making more effectual Provifion for the Government of the Province of Quebec " in North America," and to make further provifion for the government of the faid "Province;" and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the fame, that any conContracts and tract or agreement which fhall, after the paffing of this Act, and before the first Agreements that fhall be made af day of July next, be bona fide made in writing, for fupplies of Wheat, Peas, Oats ter the palling of or any other Seed Corn or Potatoes, in the prefence of a Public Notary or one re 1st. July next of His Majefty's Juftices of the Peace, or a Curate of any Parish, or a Captain of for the fuppliesof the Militia, and one other credible Witnefs, for any quantity of Seed-Corn, not ex this Act and befo. V. ACTE pour aider le Pauvre dans le prêt des Semences de Bled et autres (25e. Mars, 1805.) VU que plufieurs Habitans en détreffe par la mauvaise récolte de l'Année der nière ont confommé ce qui leur étoit néceffaire pour leurs Semences prochaines, a fin de fe procurer une fubfiftance durant le cours de cette Année; Et ceux qui font en état de leur fournir de la Semence pouvant ne pas vouloir la confier aux pauvres Habitans fans une fûreté hors de toute difcuffion pour le payement et rembourfement de telles avances à la Récolte prochaine : en conféquence, par affection et fenfibilité pour les pauvres, Qu'il foit ftatué par la Très Excellente Majefté du Roi, par et de l'avis et confentement du Confeil Législatif et de l'Affemblée de la Province du Bas-Canada, conftitués et affemblés en vertu et fous l'autorité d'un Ace passé dans le Parlement de la Grande Bretagne, intitulé, " Acte qui rappelle certaines "parties d'un Acte paffé dans la quatorzième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, "intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Pro"vince de Québec dans l'Amérique Septentrionale;" et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gouvernement de la dite Province;" Et il eft par le préfent ftatué par l'autorité fufdite, que tout Acte, Contrat ou Engagement qui fera fait de bonne foi, par écrit, après la paffation du préfent Acte, et avant le premier jour de Juillet prochain, pour obtenir un fecours de Bled, Pois, Avoine ou autre Graine de Semence, ou Patates, foit en présence d'un Notaire, d'un des Juges de Paix de Sa Majefté, ou d'un Curé de Paroiffe, ou d'un Capitaine de Milice et d'un autre Témoin digne de foi, pour une quantité de Semences qui n'excèdera pas Quarante Mi C & nots Continuation de l'Acte de la 43e Année du III. AN ACT for applying the Sum of One Thousand Pounds, out of any unappropriated monies in the hands of his Majefty's Receiver General, towards the improvement of the inland navigation of this Province." MOST GRACIOUS SOVEREIGN, WH HEREAS the improvement of the inland navigation, would be of effential benefit to Upper and Lower Canada, by facilitating and increafing the commerce of both Provinces, and in confequence, the external navigation thereof would be extended, and whereas it is at prefent impoffible from the nature of the rapids in the river Saint Lawrence, to calculate the expence which may be requifite for effectual improvement in that refpect, but it being defirable and proper, that an experiment fhould be made upon the rapids, below La Chine, in order to ascertain the practicability of fuch improvement, and to furnish the means of making a calcu lation, or estimate of the probable general expence thereof; May it therefore please your Majefty that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legislative Council and Affembly of the Province of Lower Canada, conftituted and affembled by virtue of and under the authority of an A&t of the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an A&t pafled in the fourteenth year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual provifion for the Go"vernment of the Province of Quebec in North America," and to make further proviGovernor empow❝ fion for the government of the faid Province," and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the fame, that it fhall and may be lawful, to and for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor or Perfon adminiftering the Government of this Province, to nóminate and appoint three Commiffioners, by an Inftrument under his hand and Seal at Arms, and to them or to any two of them, to iffue by Warrant or Warrants under his Hand and Seal, directed to his Majefty's Receiver General of this Province, a sum or sums of money, not exceeding in the whole, one thousand Pounds, current money, out of any unappropriated monies which now are or hereafter may ered to appoint three Commiffio ners and to iffue to them, by warrant a fum not exceeding £1000. be |
