One lost relic. Ten thousand years of secrets.

Lieutenant Commander Kaia Marinoch is a weapon without a target. Grounded on the backwater planet of Tol’shi while her ship undergoes extensive repairs, the elite V.I.P.E.R. Operative is drowning in desk work and disillusionment. Her faith in the Initiative is fading—until a high-value asset vanishes along with a classified Ancestral relic.

Tasked with a simple recovery, the investigation turns bloody as Kaia stumbles into the beginnings of a war between Jiuda Conclaves. With the bodies piling up, and growing suspicions of Imperial involvement, Kaia is forced to choose between following the chain of command and her own lethal instincts. But the relic isn't just a prize for warlords. Deep in the void, an ancient power has begun to wake—and it's calling to her.

About the author (2026)

V. H. Balaban is a space and science fiction enthusiast. He is an avid reader of both science fiction and fantasy, although he has a special spot in his heart for a good space opera. While he is just beginning his publishing career, he is excited to share the plethora of stories and worldbuilding that has been rattling around his head.

A satellite design engineer by trade, he began his writing career in 2017 and channels his love for all things space into the creation of Heliosphere Publishing. When not writing or designing satellites, he's gaming or being a jungle gym to his two young boys. You'll also find him exploring campgrounds while gazing up at the mesmerizing night sky, on the hunt for shooting stars and satellites.
