BY-LAWS

FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK.

Adopted June 20th, 1849.

First.-Regular meetings shall be held on the third Wednesday of every month, at 5 o'clock, P. M., at the Special Term Court Room of the Supreme Court, or at such other place as may be designated by the Board.

Second. At the first regular meeting after the annual election of Commissioners, the Board shall be organized by the election of a President and Clerk.

Third. The roll shall be called precisely at the time appointed for meeting.

Fourth.-The President shall annually, on or before the first meeting next succeeding his election, appoint the following Standing Committees, to consist of three members each; a portion of each Committee shall be composed of newly elected Commissioners, and a portion also of those elected the preceding year:
