CERTIFICATE OF INCORPORATION

OF THE

WOMEN'S CHESS CLUB OF NEW YORK.

This is to certify, that we, Eliza C. Foot, Jean L. Nesbit, E. Somers Haines, Sophie Downer and Susan A. R. Parker, all persons of full age, and citizens of the United States, and a majority of whom are citizens of the State of New York, do, by this certificate, pursuant to, and in conformity with the act of Legislature of the State of New York, passed on the 8th day of May, 1895, being chapter 559 of the Laws of 1895, entitled "An Act Relating to Membership Corporations Constituting Chapter Forty-Thee of The General Laws," and Article II. thereof, associate ourselves together and become a membership corporation under the name and style of "THE WOMEN'S CHESS CLUB OF NEW YORK."

1. The particular objects for which the corporation is to be formed are, the advancement and cultivation of the game of chess, the providing of suitable facilities and oppor

tunities for playing the same, the promotion of social relations among the members, and of friendly intercouse with similar organizations, and the co-operation with them in all matters pertaining to chess.

2. The name of the proposed corporation is "THE WOMEN'S CHESS CLUB OF NEW YORK."

3. The territory in which its operations are to be principally conducted is the City of New York.

4. The city in which its principal office is to be located is the City of New York.

5. The number of its directors is to be nine.

6. The names and places of residence of the persons to be its directors until its first annual meeting are:
