The First Edition of the New Testament

"Trobisch brings to bear historical, textual, and literary methods to establish the existence of this unified final redaction, and he finds a coherent literary idea underlying its contents and organization. Whereas previous studies into the development of the canon rely heavily on secondary attestations by the Church Fathers, this book draws on data provided by the New Testament manuscripts, many of which were only discovered during the twentieth century. Trobisch evaluates the manuscript evidence of the redactional elements of the New Testament, including the number and arrangement of New Testament writings in the manuscript, codex form, nomina sacra, titles, and selection of authors. He identifies certain texts within the New Testament as having been put there by the last editors or used by them in a way that reflects this literary conception of the Bible as a whole.
