The plans and prospects of Audley-ende, twenty five in number, were engraved in 1676. The copper-plates were, it is said, sold to a brazier in Cambridge as old copper, and destroyed. Dr. Mead's set was sold for 50l. through the mistake of a person employed to bid for it. See WINSTANLEY, Henry.

The Capacity and extent of the Human Understanding; exemplified in the extraordinary Case of Automathes, a young Nobleman, who was accidentally left in his Infancy upon a desolate Island, and continued 19 Years in that solitary State, separate from all human Society. Lond. 1745, 12mo.

Egestorff, after animadverting upon the English prose translation, relates his own offer of this version, when in London, to various booksellers, and was told by one and all, we are satisfied with what we have got;' and proceeds to say,

Perhaps they may be doubly satisfied with what they have got, for it may be justly said, that, in their translation,. the Messiah has been crucified a second time.' In justice to the translator, this version, though containing some Germanisms, is in very good Miltonic blank verse, and a very readable book.
