Hard time determining stars on this book. It is a very powerful book that really sticks with you as you read it and after you are done. This has some of the most graphic and disturbing scenes I think ... Read full review

So, I'm not sure how I feel about this book. On the one hand, the author did a wonderful job of creating the character Pat Bateman and portraying real mental illness in the form of psychosis and ... Read full review

Damn this book is graphic! It's the 1980s and the rich keep on getting richer and the poor keep on getting poorer. Patrick Bateman is bored of his humdrum life on Wall Street. Nothing seems to excite ... Read full review

I like a messed up book, I admit it. Chuck Palahniuk is a favorite of mine and I can handle A LOT in books. This one though was just too much for me and I even had to skip some sections because the violence and gore was too much. I know this is a classic but it definitely isn't in my mind! Not for me
I loved the American Psycho movie so I decided to read the book. I got about 10 to 14 chapters in and just couldn't read anymore. I thought it was very boring but that is just my opinion.

The book is -okay-. Some parts I found quite good and sometimes funny (e.g. the U2 concert), while others... well, were either dull or simply trashy. I would be willing to give the book a higher rating if the violence was more "perceived" instead of just being raw narration. As it is, it was kinda pointless, we don't get much of Patrick's "logic" and so it feels like reading dumb pulp (which this may very well be). The parts were he explains himself and struggles with himself are some of the more interesting portions of the book. It's an interesting read, but be sure buckle-up for stop-n-go style narration.
