This race was disputed on the ground that the stake for Bold Archer was only paid a quarter of an hour before the race, and not before the hour of starting for the first race of the day, as specified by the Newmarket regulations. The case was referred to the Stewards of the Jockey Club, who decided in favour of Mr J. Drake.
