A gripping, and brutally honest testimony of overcoming an abusive and dysfunctional past. This is the inspiring story of a brave German American woman born a child of rape, brought up in a poor, unstable, abusive family. She overcomes all of her obstacles to become a successful educator and writer. I must warn that this book does contain graphic language and content. Because of this fact, you won't find it in any library as it's still widely banned in the USA. If you can read a copy online, or if you have the means to buy the book and can handle graphic content, then I highly recommend this book. Edna Gertrude Beasley was truly a woman ahead of her time.
