Chap. 1.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the supervisor of the town of Queensbury, county of Warren, to issue a warrant for the collection of taxes for the year eighteen hundred and eighty-three, and extend the time for collecting the

same.

Chap. 2.

AN ACT to authorize the extension of the time for the collection of taxes in the several towns of this state.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. If any collector or receiver of taxes, in any town of this tions upon state, shall pay over all moneys collected by him, and shall make his time for return to the treasurer of his county, as now required by law, of all collection unpaid taxes on lands of non-residents, and shall renew his bond as herein provided, the time for the collection of all other taxes, and for making return thereof by him, shall be and is hereby extended to the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four; such bond shall be renewed with such sureties as in any town shall be approved by the supervisor thereof, or, in case of his absence or inability to act, by the town clerk thereof. The penalty thereof, in any case, shall be double the amount of taxes in that case remaining uncollected. The bond shall be approved in writing, and filed in the same manner as the original bond is required by law to be filed, and to have all the effect of the collector or receiver's bond. A copy of the bond and the approval thereof shall, within fifteen days after the passage of this act, be delivered to the county treasurer of the county in which said town is, but nothing herein contained shall be construed as extending the time for the payment of the state tax, or any part thereof, by the county treasurer of said county to the comptroller as now provided by law.

§ 2. It shall be the duty of the secretary of state, immediately after the passage of this act, to cause to be printed on slips of paper, and delivered to each county treasurer, a sufficient number thereof to supply one copy to each collector or receiver of taxes in said county, and it shall be the duty of the said county treasurer to deliver one copy thereof to each collector or receiver of taxes in his county.

§ 3. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 3.

AN ACT to amend chapter eighty of the laws of eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled "An act to provide for a separate board of water commissioners in the village of Suspension Bridge, Niagara county, in the place of the trustees of said village, the mode and time of their election, and defining their powers, duties and term of office."

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section four of chapter eighty of the laws of eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled "An act to provide for a separate board of water commissioners in the village of Suspension Bridge, Niagara county, in the place of the trustees of said village, the mode and time of their election and defining their powers, duties and term of office," is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

§ 4.. Chap. 4.

AN ACT to legalize certain proceedings of the assessors of the town of Summit, Schoharie county, and certain proceedings of the board of supervisors of the county of Schoharie.

§ 2. The chairman and clerk of the board of supervisors of the county of Schoharie elected at the annual meeting of said board in the year roll, etc. eighteen hundred and eighty-three, are hereby authorized and empowered to sign the tax warrant attached to said roll authorizing and directing the collector of the said town of Summit to collect the tax extended upon said roll by said board of supervisors at their annual meeting in the year eighteen hundred and eighty-three, and to deliver said assessment and tax-roll and warrant to the collector of said town of Summit, with the same force and effect as if said warrant had been signed by said board of supervisors at their said annual meeting and delivered by them to said collector in the manner and at the time required by the existing laws of this state.

§ 3. Upon receipt of said assessment and tax-roll and warrant, and collector. executing the bond required by law of town collectors, the said collector shall collect the taxes upon said roll and shall proceed and have the same powers and be subject to the same, liabilities, and account for and pay over the moneys so collected according to the terms of said warrant and the provisions of law, in the same manner and to the same extent as if said assessment-roll had been duly verified by said assessors, and said warrant duly signed by said board of supervisors, and delivered to the said collector on or before December fifteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-three; but the time for the collection of said tax is hereby extended to March fifteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The trustees of "The Ithaca Academy," elected at the meeting annual meeting of the members of said corporation held in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, or a majority of them, are hereby authorized and empowered to call a special meeting of the members of said corporation, to be held in the village of Ithaca, at a time and place to be designated in the notice of said meeting, for the election of twelve trustees of said "The Ithaca Academy" in the place and stead of such trustees as may have been heretofore elected, and for such other purNotice of poses as are contemplated by the provisions of this act. Notice of such meeting and the purposes thereof shall be given by said trustees, or a majority of them, to the members of said corporation, by publication of said notice in the newspaper printed at Albany in which legal notices are required to be published, and also in two of the public newspapers printed in the said village of Ithaca, at least once in each week for four successive weeks immediately preceding the time of holding said Election meeting. § 2. § 3. § 4. The official acts of the respective officers of said "The Ithaca Official Academy" heretofore performed, in the management, control and dis- acts conposition of the funds and property, real and personal, of said corporation are hereby ratified and confirmed, without prejudice to any legal proceedings already had or instituted, if any there should be. All sales, deeds, conveyances, assignments and transfers of the property of said corporation, real and personal, made in pursuance of the provisions of this act, are hereby declared to be valid and effectual.

§ 5. All valid debts against the said "The Ithaca Academy" existing valid at the time of the transfer and conveyance of said funds and property bein as herein provided, and theretofore incurred, shall be a lien and charge on propupon said funds and property in the hands of the persons, corporation or corporations to whom said funds and property shall be transferred and conveyed as aforesaid; and such persons, corporation or corporations, and each of them, shall be liable for the debts of said "The Ithaca Academy," contracted prior to the time of such transfer and conveyance, to the extent of the funds and property so transferred and conveyed.
