Enjoyable quick ready. Won't get you to space and back but will make you think about how you manage 'luck' and preparedness in your own life.

Probably what fascinated me most is that Chris Hadfield at age 9 and I at age 7 were watching the same thing on TV. He was on Stag Island, by Sarnia, and I was in Port Lambton about 20 Km down river: The July 20, 1969 Apollo moon landing. It's a small world. There were a couple other interests we had in common including the guitar. I just watched "Space Oddity" for the first time. I liked it.
The book described the details of preparing, launching, docking and returning back to earth. It begins on Stag Island when he secretly decides to be an astronaut right up to his retirement. He's a descent writer because I could visualize it enough that when I closed the book I felt I was part of the journey. I really enjoyed that. If I had read the book earlier I would have made an effort to get to the book signing in Victoria. Maybe we could have swapped a word or two about our childhood homes. Thanks for the ride Chris.  

I first heard about this book while listening to NPR. While I have not finished it completely, I can tell you it is an enjoyable read. Col Hadfield has an easy story telling style. It is well worth the read.
