§ 2288. Qualifications

§ 2298. The judges of the supreme and circuit courts Oct. 17, 1878, § 2, shall be citizens of the United States, and shall have resided in the state of Oregon at least three years next of judges. preceding their election or appointment, and the judges of the circuit courts shall be residents of their respective districts at the time of their election or appointment. § 2300. In addition to the duties of such clerk as supreme already prescribed by law, he shall be required, and it is hereby made his duty, to prepare and superintend the publications of the decisions of the supreme court of this reporter state, which shall contain a statement of each case reported, the points and authorities made by counsel, with names of counsel on each side of each case, together with a concise syllabus of the points decided by the court, the same to be printed and bound after the style, as near as may be, of the Oregon reports already published.

§ 2301. There shall be elected at the general election, by the qualified electors of the several judicial districts of this state, a district attorney from each of such ditricts, who shall hold his office for the term of two years, and until his successor is elected and qualified.

§ 2302. The term of office of a district attorney shall commence on the first Monday of July next following the election of such attorney, and before entering upon such office the person elected thereto must qualify the for by filing with the secretary of state his certificate of election, with an oath of office indorsed thereon, and subscribed by him, to the effect that he will support the constitution of the United States, of this state, and faithfully and honestly demean himself in office.

§ 2303. If at any time a vacancy shall happen in the office of district attorney in any district, the governor must appoint some suitable person to fill such vacancy until the next general election thereafter, and until his successor is elected and qualified. A person appointed to fill a vacancy in the office of district attorney must qualify in the same manner as a person elected thereto, and shall have the like power and compensation, and perform the same duties.

§ 2304. A district attorney, during his continuance in office, shall be entitled to appoint a suitable number of deputies in each county, and may, by a written ap pointment file[d] with the clerk of the county, authorize such deputy to attend upon the sittings of the grand
