A PROCLAMATION.

HEREAS in the Session of the Provincial Parliament of Lower-Canada, held in the third year of his present Majesty's Reign and in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three, a certain Bill, intituled, "An Act further to provide for the summary trial of Small Causes," was passed by the Legislative Council and Assembly, of the said Province of Lower-Canada; And whereas the said Bill, in the said Provincial Parliament, in the same Session thereof, on the third day of April, in the year aforesaid, was presented to the said Matthew Lord Aylmer, then being Governor-in-Chief Administering His Majesty's Government within the said Province, for His Majesty's Assent, and was then by me, the said Matthew Lord Aylmer, the said Governor-inChief, as aforesaid, reserved for the signification of His Majesty's pleasure thereAnd whereas the said Bill hath been laid before His said Majesty, in Council, and His Majesty, by and with the advice of his Council, on the thirteenth day of April, now last past, was pleased to assent to the said Bill; and pursuant to His said Majesty's Royal Pleasure in this behalf, the said Bill was then confirmed, ratified, and finally enacted. Therefore, in pursuance of the Statute in such case made and provided, by this Proclamation, I do signify, publish and make known, that the said Bill hath been as aforesaid laid before His said Majesty in Council, and that His said Majesty hath been pleased to assent to the same.

And of the Premises, I do hereby, in His Majesty's name, require and command all Judges, Justices, Officers, and Ministers of Justice, and all others of His Majesty's loving subjects, and all persons whomsoever, whom the same may concern, to take notice and govern themselves accordingly.

Given under My Hand and Seal at Arms, at the Castle of Saint Lewis, in the City of Quebec in the said Province of Lower-Canada, the thirteenth day of August, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-four, and in the fifth year of His Majesty's Reign.

PROCLAMATION.

ATTENDU que dans la Session du Parlement Provincial du Bas-Canada,

tenu dans la troisième année du Règne de Sa Présente Majesté et en l'année de Notre Seigneur mil huit cent trente-trois, il fut passé un certain Bill, intitulé, "Acte pour pourvoir ultérieurement à la décision sommaire des petites causes dans les campagnes," par le Conseil Legislatif et la Chambre d'Assemblée de la dite Province du Bas-Canada; et vû que le dit Bill, dans le dit Parlement Provincial, dans la même Session d'icelui, le troisième jour d'Avril, en l'année susdite, fut présenté à Moi, le dit Matthew Lord Aylmer, étant alors Gouverneur en Chef administrant le Gouvernement de Sa Majesté dans la dite Province, pour la Sanction de Sa Majesté, et fut alors par moi, le dit Matthew Lord Aylmer, Gouverneur on Chef comme susdit, réservé pour la signification du Plaisir de Sa Majesté sur icelui; Et attendu que le dit Bill a été mis devant Sa dite Majesté, en Conseil et qu'il a plû à Sa Majesté par et de l'avis de Son Conseil, le treizième jour d'Avril en dernier passé, de sanctionner le dit Bill et conformément au Plaisir Royal de Sa dite Majesté à l'égard d'icelui, le dit Bill a été alors confirmé, ratifié et finalement passé en loi.---En conséquence en obéissance au Statut fait et pourvu en pareil cas, par cette Proclamation, je signifie, publie et fais à savoir, que le dit Bill a été comme susdit, mis devant Sa dite Majesté en Conseil, et qu'il a plû à Sa dite Majesté de le sanctionner.

Et des Prémisses, par la présente, au nom de Sa Majesté, je requiers et commande tous Juges, Officiers de Justice, et Ministres de Justice, et tous autres loyaux sujets de Sa Majesté et toutes personnes quelconques que les présentes peuvent concerner, d'en prendre connoissance et de se gouverner en consé

quence.

Donné sous mon Seing et le Sceau de mes armes, au Chateau St. Louis, dans la Cité de Québec, dans la dite Province du Bas-Canada, le treizième jour d'Août, dans l'année de notre Seigneur mil huit cent trente quatre, et dans la cinquième année du Règne de Sa Majesté.
