E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Lower Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of, and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual provision for the Government of the Province of "Quebec in North America," and to make further provision for the government of "the said Province;" And it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, that a certain Act passed in the ninth year of the Reign of George the Fourth, chapter Act. 2: twenty-eight, intituled, "An Act to facilitate proceedings against the estates and "effects of debtors in certain cases," the duration whereof is limited to the first day of May next, shall remain in force until the first day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six, and no longer.

II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that a certain other Act Geo. 4, cap. passed in the tenth and eleventh years of the Reign of George the Fourth, chapter sixteen, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act passed in the thirty-fourth year of "the reign of His late Majesty, George the Third, intituled, "An Act for the divi"sion of the Province of Lower Canada, to amend the judicature thereof and to repeal "certain Laws therein-mentioned, inasmuch as the same relates to the Courts of Criminal Jurisdiction," the duration whereof is limited to the first day of May next, shall remain in force until the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six, and no longer.

U'IL soit statué par la Très Excellente Majesté du Roi, par et de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Législatif et de l'Assemblée de la Province du Bas. Ca.. nada, constitués et assemblés en vertu et sous l'autorité d'un Acte passé dans le Parlement de la Grande-Bretagne, intitulé, "Acte qui rappelle certaines parties d'un "Acte passé dans la quatorzième année du règne de Sa Majesté, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Province de Québec "dans l'Amérique Septentrionale," et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gouvernement de la dite Province;" Et il est par le présent statué par la dite auto- de l'Acte de rité, qu'un certain Acte passé dans la neuvième année du règne de George Quatre, IV. chapitre chapître vingt-huit, intitulé, "Acte pour faciliter les procédures contre les biens et 28. Et qu'il soit de plus statué par l'autorité susdite, qu'un certain autre Acte passé dans les dixième et onzième années du règne de George Quatre, chapître seize, intitulé, "Acte qui amende un Acte passé dans la trente-quatrième année du règne "de feu Sa Majesté George Trois, intitulé, "Acte qui divise la Province du Bas Canada, qui amende la judicature d'icelle, et qui rappelle certaines Lois y men. tionnées, en autant qu'il a rapport aux Cours de Jurisdiction Criminelle," dont la durée est limitée au premier Mai prochain, continuera d'être en force jusqu'au. premier jour de Mai, Mil huit cent trente-six, et pas plus longtems.

III. Et qu'il soit de plus statué par l'autorité susdite, que les pouvoirs conférés aux Commissaires par la quatrième clause d'un certain autre Acte passé dans la première année du règne de Sa Majesté Guillaume Quatre, chapître onze, intitulé, "Acte pour autoriser les Commissaires nommés sous l'autorité d'un certain Acte "passé dans la onzième année du règne de feu Sa Majesté, intitulé, "Acte pour "pourvoir à l'amélioration et à l'aggrandissement du Havre de Montréal, à em.. "prunter une somme additionelle d'argent, et pour d'autres fins y mentionnées," lesquels pouvoirs doivent cesser au premier jour de Mai prochain, continueront d'être en force, et que les dits Commissaires sont par le présent autorisés à percevoir les droits de quaiage établis par le dit Acte jusqu'au premier jour de Mai, Mil huit cent trente-cinq, et pas plus longtems. Act to amend an Act of the last Session of the Parliament of this Province, chapter twenty-sixth, concerning the encouragement of Elementary Schools.

HEREAS it is necessary to make certain alterations and amendments in the Act passed in the last Session of the present Provincial Parliament, Chapter twenty six, relating to Elementary Schools: May it therefore please your Majesty that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Lower-Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual provision for the Go"vernment of the Province of Quebec, in North America," and to make further pro"vision for the Government of the said Province"; and it is hereby enacted by the sion respect. authority of the same, that the first Section of the said Act passed in the last Session of the Provincial Parliament, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain Acts therein "mentioned, and for the further encouragement of Elementary Schools in the

"U qu'il est nécessaire de faire quelques changemens et amendemens à l'Acte passé est dans la dernière Session du présent Parlement Provincial, chapître vingt-six, concernant les Ecoles Elémentaires: Qu'il plaise donc à votre Majesté qu'il puisse être statué, et qu'il soit statué par la Très Excellente Majesté du Roi, par et de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Législatif et de l'Assemblée de la Province du Bas-Canada, constitués et assemblés en vertu et sous l'autorité d'un Acte passé dans le Parlement de la Grande Bretagne, intitulé, "Acte qui rappelle certaines parties d'un Acte passé dans la quatorzième année du Règne de Sa Majesté, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Province de Québec, dans "l'Amérique Septentrionale;" et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gouverne"ment de la dite Province:" Et il est par le présent statué par la dite autorité, que la première clause du dit Acte passé durant la dernière Session du Parlement Provincial, intitulé, "Acte pour rappeler certains Actes y mentionnés, et pour encou

And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that from the fifteenth day of May next, until the fifteenth day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty-four, there shall be allowed and paid out of the unappropriated monies in the hands of the Receiver General, the sums hereinafter mentioned for the encourage. ment of the Elementary Schools situated without the limits of the Cities of Quebec schools slab. and Montreal and of the Town of Three Rivers, kept according to the provisions of the Act herein before cited, that is to say: for twenty-two School Districts in the County of Bonaventure: for fourteen in the County of Gaspé; for thirty-five in the County of Rimouski: for thirty-four in the County of Kamouraska; for twentyfive in the County of l'Islet; for forty-nine in the County of Bellechasse; for thirtyseven in the County of Dorchester; for sixty-seven in the County of Beauce ; for seventeen in the County of Megantic; for forty-one in the County of Lotbinière; for forty-one in the County of Nicolet; for twenty-seven in the County of Yamaska; for ten in the County of Drummond; for fifty-one in the County of Sherbrooke; for sixty-two in the County of Stanstead; for forty-eight in the County of Missiskoui; for twenty-five in the County of Shefford; for twenty-nine in the County of Richelieu, and the Borough of Sorel ; for thirty-one in the County of St. Hyacinthe; for forty-seven in the County of Rouville; for seventeen in the County of Verchères; for thirty-five in the County of Chambly; for thirty four in the County of Laprairie; for thirty in the County of l'Acadie; for fifty-nine in the County of Beauharnois; for twenty-four in the County of Vaudreuil; for nineteen in the County of Ottawa; for forty-nine in the County of Two Mountains; for twenty-three in the County of Terrebonne ; for twenty-one in the County of Lachenaye; for thirty-six in the County of l'Assomption; for eighteen in the County of Montreal; for forty-eight in the County of Berthier; for thirty-six in the County of St. Maurice; for twenty-seven in the County of Champlain; for forty-five in the County of Portneuf; for twenty-three in the County of Quebec; for ten in the County of Montmorency; for nineteen in the County of Saguenay; for ten in the County of Orleans; for one Elementary School in a central situation in such of the said Districts herein above enumerated, at the rate of twenty pounds currency per annum; aud for one additional and Schools for separate School for Girls in the School Districts in each Roman Catholic Parish or Mission in which there is a Church or Chapel, at the rate of twenty pounds currency per annum : Provided always, that such Schools for Girls shall be open for the in Parish or tuition of all the female Children in such Parish or Mission at the same rates as the same rates as other Schools.
