CHAPTER LIX.

An ACT concerning Foreign Insurance Companies.
SECT. I. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General
Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same,

to ensure.

That no body politic or corporate, of any foreign state, kingdom No person or or country, no company or co-partnership of foreigners, by them- persons, &c. selves, or any agent or agents of such company or co-partnership, not citizens and no person or persons who is or are not a citizen or citizens of the U. S. of the United States, shall be insurers in any case within this state, against loss at sea, against loss by fire, upon any property within the same, upon the inland transportation of any goods, wares or merchandize, in or out of this state, or upon the life or lives of any person or persons residing within the same, and all contracts and policies entered into by any such person or persons, company, co-partnership, or body politic or corporate, as insurers, shall be null and void.

SECT. III. CHAPTER LX.

An ACT to annul the marriage of David Carmack and Mary Car

7HEREAS it satisfactorily appears to the legislature, that Mary Carmack, late Mary Schneider, was lawfully joined in marriage on the twenty-seventh day of December, Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred, to David Carmack, and that the said David Carmack was at a court of general quarter sessions, of the peace, held at Philadelphia, in and for the county of Philadelphia, of March sessions, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and eight, convicted of forgery on two several bills of indictment, as appears by the record thereof, for which crime he was sentenced to an imprisonment at hard labour for the term of two years on each bill, in the jail of Philadelphia county, where he now remains: And whereas it appears proper for the legislature to grant the said Mary a divorce: Therefore,

SECTION I. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennyslvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the marriage contract entered into by the said David Carmack and Mary his wife, late Mary Schneider, be, and the same is hereby annulled and made void, and the parties respectively set free and discharged from the marriage contract, and from all duties and obligations arising therefrom, as fully, effectually and absolutely, as if they had never been joined in marriage, but Legitimacy of children nothing herein contained shall be construed to affect or render not to be af- illegitimate, any child or children born of the body of the said fected there- Mary, during her coverture.

CHAPTER LXI.

An ACT appropriating a sum of money for improving the road from Pittsburgh, through Canonsburgh, to the town of Washington, in the county of Washington.

SECT. I. An ACT to authorize the commissioners of Armstrong county, to sell certain lots in the town of Kittaning, and to purchase other ground in lieu thereof.

CHAPTER LXIII.

An ACT to enable James Gibson, guardian of John George and
Hains Cousland, to purchase for their use real estate.

WHEREAS it appears that John Cousland, George Cous

land and Hains Cousland, hold an undivided third-part

of a lot of ground, situate on the west side of Delaware, Eighthstreet, between Chesnut and George's-street, in the city of Phil. adelphia, containing in front on Eighth-street, twenty-two feet, and in length, ninety-nine feet, and that the other two-third parts of the said lot are owned by a certain Robert Adams, who is willing to sell the same: And whereas it appears that the purchase of the said two-third parts of the said lot for the said minors, would result to their benefit: Therefore,
