If I can find the right man I have a good thing for him, as the store will go into the combination as soon as the company is incorporated. Or I will make a contract to sell all my interest to my partner in case 'he doesn't want to go into the company. In short, I want to hold and continue the building up of this business by some one that I can absolutely depend upon. Apply by letter only to Dawson. care AMERICAN DRUGGIST.

"Listen to Petz."

This is the cabalistic title of the clever little booklet describing the Petz corner post and transom bar, patents for which are owned by the Detroit Show Case Company, of which Mr. Petz is the president. These devices enable the maker to present a show case or a show window which has the largest possible amount of uninterrupted glass surface consistent with stability. If you have not already received a copy of this little booklet write at once for one to the Detroit Show Case Company, Detroit, Mich. It is an interesting study in clever advertising.

May the Best Man Win.

A drug journal deprecating "the inability of the N. A. R. D. to hold its members in line" on various resolutions wails because it has seen in drug store windows a malted milk product not made by the malted milk company which gave the N. A. R. D. $1,000 or such a matter a year or two ago. With great severity it quotes the N. A. R. D. committee on trademarks to the effect that druggists should refuse to handle the "imitation" article.

To The New Idea malted milk would appear very much like cheese or pianos or sarsaparilla in that any one who has sense enough and knows how has a right to make and sell it; and it is just as foolish to call one malted milk an imitation of another as to say that a colt is an imitation of a horse because the horse is older. Doubtless it would be conceded that other things being equal the colt has a right to exist. And you can bet your old straw hat that if malted milk company No. 1 could establish in court the imitation so glibly talked about, it would get a judgment for damages and an injunction that would put malted milk company No. 2 out of the running in double-quick time. The New Idea doesn't care a straw one way or the other. but the inconsistency of the proprietary attitude is so plain as to make all this talk about “imitations" tiresome. Add to that the fact that the courts have had a say and the further fact that it is no drug journal's business if a druggist chooses to

handle a legitimate product, and it makes us feel like saying something. So we have.-The New Idea.

A New Capsule Plant.

The mechanical department of Eli Lilly & Co. is now designing and contracts will soon be let for the construction of an additional building to the plant at Indianapolis. A portion of this new building will be especially arranged for the manufacture of empty gelatine capsules. The present plant will be moved to the new building and additional machinery placed to increase the output severalfold. As heretofore, the product of the capsule department will be limited strictly to prescription capsules. The cheaper grades will not be made.

Other portions of this new building, together with the quarters vacated by the old capsule plant, will make it possible to enlarge a number of other departments to meet the increasing demands for the products of the Red Lilly laboratories.

The International Auto and Yacht Agency, 119-121 Nassau street, New York City, which has been marketing a line of imported French automobile accessories, is now placing for sale a novel and practical vest pocket lighter which is ignited by air and is guaranteed to answer all purposes of general use.

The construction of the perpetual Le Radium Lighter, model No. 3, is simple, consisting of a highly polished metal tube, 24 inches in length, with a screw cap. Upon removing the cap a metal standard is exposed to view. Fastened to the under side of this is an igniting pellet, or "pilole," and suspended from this are several fine platinum wires. When this is exposed to the air (by the simple act of removing the cap) the ignited apparatus will glow with heat, and the “glowing stone" will cause the wires to flame the wick and immediately burst into a small, strong, steady flame. Upon simply replacing the cap, thus cutting off the air, the flame and all the heat will instantly die out and can be immediately and safely replaced in the vest pocket.

The above sole importer of this practical novelty is now delivering trade orders to druggists and will mail a single one complete, postpaid, to any individual upon receipt of 50 cents, which sum will be refunded if the lighter is not as represented.

The Le Radium Lighter is a great convenience to sportsmen, canoeists, yachtsmen, autoists, etc., as it is not affected by rain, snow or strong wind. Testimonials to this effect will be sent upon request.

It is of great convenience to any one who uses matches, as it will light lamps, gas, give light as a night lamp in the dark, As a novelty it is supreme, for it will mystify every one, because of being ignited by simple air without any mechanical help. With ordinary care it is indestructible and perpetual.

The International Auto and Yacht Agency, 119-121 Nassau street, New York City, solicits correspondence from all interested.

J. A. Hynes, 292 South Marshfield avenue, Chicago, has collected and published in a 64-page pamphlet the pharmacy examination questions of the various States and territories, together with the laws of the respective States. This pamphlet will be an invaluable guide to students about to take the State examinations. A copy will be sent by Mr. Hynes, postage prepaid, on receipt of 75 cents.

A. H. Wirz, of 913 Cherry street, Philadelphia, manufactures a large line of metal goods for the drug trade, including

An Attractive Window Display of Borden's Malted Milk. We illustrate herewith a window display of Louis P. Horning, Elizabeth, N. J., which has attracted a great deal of favorable attention. This display consisted mainly of cartons, fastened together with small staples in such a way that the structure is quite substantial. In making the arch the base of the carton

is fastened with the staples and one of the top flaps is left out and inserted under the top of the adjoining carton, where it is fastened with a pin. Red cheese-cloth furnishes an excellent and effective background for the cartons and the cutouts, both of which are furnished by the Borden's Condensed Milk Company free of cost to druggists who carry their malted milk in stock. Write them for full description of the display.

bottle stoppers for cork and screw-neck liquid and powder bottles, collapsible tubes, hand pill machines, hand pill compressors, suppository and bougie molds and metal syringes. These goods are all carried in stock by wholesale druggists. The New York representative is Frank P. Wisner, with offices at 26 Cliff street.

The thing that assures the druggist a good profit nowadays always appeals to him. Abbott's Effervescent Saline Laxative, made by the Abbott Alkaloidal Company, of Chicago, belongs to the category of money makers. Thousands of druggists are dispensing it at a big profit. One thing should be borne in mind-namely, this article is being advertised constantly in the best medical journals and has the confidence of the medical profession. Every druggist knows what that means and should keep a supply on hand. The retail prices are 25 cents, 50 cents and $1. It is supplied by all leading jobbers. For particulars address the Abbott Alkaloidal Company, Ravenswood, Chicago.

Lythol is an antiseptic mouth wash free from acid. Druggists are frequently requested to furnish such a preparation and they can recommend this particular preparation with safety. It is made by Hudson & Co., 489 Fifth avenue, New York, and is invaluable in catarrhal conditions of the mucous mem

store is sure to win a high rating in Bradstreet's. There is no question but that a soda counter can either draw or drive away trade, according to the manner in which it is operated.

In winter the steaming broth, the hot cup of chocolate and the warm atmosphere near the door will put the customer in a pleased purchasing frame of mind quicker than anything else; and in the hot summer time a sweet, cool air and sanitary marble counter and fixtures, coupled with plenty of ice and the sight of cold drinks, will so refresh and stimulate the heattired flow of customers that other departments, as well as the soda counter, will be benefited.

If proof of this is desired nothing more convincing could be found than the success of the American Soda Fountain Company in their work along this line.

While they have devoted a wonderful amount of attention to the perfecting of high-type labor and material-saving machines and fixtures, perhaps the greatest reason for their unusual success is the keen appreciation of things that attract the public, aside from good service and high quality of drinks. The summer days are coming quickly and it would be well to think these things over in planning for summer business. The more you can attract people who come into your store, the more you are doing to increase business.
