In the following work, I have attempted to present the more important truths of Moral Science, in such a form as may be useful in SCHOOLS and ACADEMIES. With this view, it has been not merely abridged, but also rewritten; the argument in general omitted, and merely the result stated; and the illustrations adapted to the comprehension of the young. The style, so far as possible, has been rendered simple; and the words and phrases selected with special reference to the ordinary language of persons not accustomed to moral speculations.
