A SUPPLEMENT To the Act entitled “An Act to authorize the Governor of this Commonwealth to incorporate a Company for erecting a Permanent Bridge over the river Schuylkill, at or near the city of Philadelphia." The Presi mode of pas Sec. I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the President, Directors and Company for erecting a permanent bridge over the river Schuylkill, at or near the city of Philadelphia, be, and they dent and Diare hereby authorized to regulate the mode of gulate the passage over the bridge, so as to prevent injury sage over the thereto, or annoyance to passengers by any person or persons who shall drive, ride or pass on, or over the same, and in any manner infringe the regulations made by the said President, Directors and Company as to such mode of passage, or in relation to the tonnage or weight permitted or forbidden to be transported on or over the said bridge; or as to the state of carriages of pleasure or burthen, claiming diminution or liable to increase of tolls, and generally to make and *2* and ordain recovered. and to make ordain such by-laws and regulations not contrary wealth, as shall be considered necessary for the ease and safety of passengers on and over the Penalties for same; and all breaches of such by-laws, rules thereof, how and regulations, shall be subject to the like penalty and penalties prescribed for the cases Peace in and for the county, or Alderman of the nizance of any of the offences herein mention- Power of the Justices of the Peace or > said city or county, and properly falling within the jurisdiction and cognizance of such courts, without regard, in these instances, to the place of their being committed, whether within the reputed or fixed boundaries of the said city or county. Sec. III. AT a general meeting of the stockholders of the Schuylkill Permanent Bridge Company, holden at the State House in the city of Philadelphia, on the 8th day June, 1798, pursuant to notice given according to law; CHARLES BIDDLE, Esq. Chairman. On motion of Mr. Bethel : WHEREAS by the sixth section of the act entitled, “An Act to authorize the governor of this Commonwealth to incorporate a company for erecting a permanent bridge over the river Schuylkill, at or near the city of Philadelphia,” it is enacted and declared, that a majority of the stockholders met, may at any time, agree to leave the determination of the place for erecting the bridge, and the terms on which the same can be purchased, to the President and Directors of the said company, incorporated under the said act. Resolved, That it be and is hereby agreed by a majority of the Stockholders now met, that the determination on the place and terms mentioned in the said act, be left to the President and Directors, who, or a majority of them consisting of two thirds, are hereby 3 |
