CHAPTER 1543.

AN ACT for the appropriation of money.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That the following sums are hereby appropriated to the following named persons, to be paid by the Treas urer out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, upon the warrant of the Auditor of Public Accounts.

§ 2. To the ministers of the Gospel of Frankfort, four hundred and fifty dollars, to be drawn and distributed among them by W. E. Railey, for their services in opening the two Houses with prayer during the present session.

§ 3. To Philip Selbert, five dollars, for regulating clocks during the present session.

§ 4. To Sanford Goin, one hundred and sixty-five dol lars, for ice furnished General Assembly during present session.

§ 5. To Jack Glore and Lewis Harris, each three dollars, for washing towels for General Assembly during present session.

§ 6. To Dennis Griffin, two hundred dollars, for his services as carpenter for the two Houses and hoisting the flag and repairing same, and putting up staff during present session.

§ 7. To Robert Loomis, two dollars per day for services at "back capitol" during present session.

§ 8. To John Pullam, seventy-five cents per day, for wheeling wood and cleaning lower hall during present session.

§ 9. To H. B. Phythian, three dollars per day, for extra services in Library, attention to committee, &c., during present session.

§ 10. To Rodman & Bro., four dollars and fifty cents, for articles furnished General Assembly during present session,

11. To Gray & Rodman, nineteen dollars and ninety cents, for articles furnished House of Representatives during present session.

§ 12. To Marshall & Meagher, six dollars and fifteen cents, for articles furnished House of Representatives during present session.

§ 13. To Whitesides & McEwan, for framing lists of standing committees, one dollar.

§14. To John H. Stewart, Keeper of the Cloak-room House of Representatives, one dollar per day during the session, to pay for an assistant.

§ 15. To Ed. Yeizer, five dollars, for services in cleaning cloak-room, and three days' attendance on same.

§ 16. To Wm. Heffner, five dollars, for services as page in organizing House of Representatives.

§ 17. To Fletcher Marcum and George T. Halbert, jr., each, for services as pages at beginning of session, twelve days, at two dollars and twenty-five cents each per day; John L. Grant, services as page, two dollars and seventyfive cents; and Ed. Grant, Sergeant-at-Arms, one day, seven dollars-all in Senate, but not to be paid for said services a second time.

§ 18. To Pat. McDonald, jr., one hundred dollars, for services as page to clerks, &c., during present session. § 19. To G. R. Snyder, for services in organizing House, ten dollars.

§ 20. To Major, Johnston & Barrett, for furnishing Yeoman daily during session, with report of proceedings, four hundred and fifty dollars.

§ 21. To Frankfort Cemetery Company, one hundred and fifty dollars per annum for two years, payable semiannually, for improving and taking care of lots owned by the State in said cemetery.

§ 22. To H. P. McDonald & Bro., one hundred and twenty-five dollars, for services in making estimates of cost and diagram for branch penitentiary, done by order of the penitentiary joint committee.

§ 23. To the Chief Clerks of the Senate and House of Representatives, such sums as they may each certify to the Auditor as paid by them for enrolling bills and resolutions during the present session, not exceeding twenty-five cents per page.

§ 24. To the Chief Clerks of the Senate and House of Representatives, for the benefit of such persons as acted during the sickness of either the Chief or Assistant Clerks of their respective bodies, such sums as may be certified to the Auditor by said Chief Clerks, at the rate of five dollars per day.

§ 25. To the Chief Clerk and Assistant Clerk of the House, one hundred dollars each, and to the Chief Clerk and Assistant Clerk of the Senate, thirty-eight dollars each, for keeping the accounts and issuing certificates to the members of the House and the Senate.

§ 26. To W. G. Thompson, five dollars, for serving as Door-keeper of the House during the opening and organization of the House of Representatives present session; to Madison C. Johnson, R. S. Bullock, and W. V. Cromwell, each, eight dollars and sixty cents, for expenses incurred by them in attending legislative committee on behalf of the State in the matter of the Chevis claim.

27. To Thos. J. Harris, ten dollars, for services rendered in opening House of Representatives present ses

sion.

§ 28. To T. B. Ford, Assistant Enrolling Clerk of the House of Representatives, six dollars per day from and including the 19th day of April, 1880, until the close of the session.

§ 29. To W. E. Monroe, Assistant Enrolling Clerk of the Senate, six dollars per day, from and including the 20th day of April until the close of the session.

30. To Lewis Harris, for services rendered in Senate Chamber and Cloak-room, the sum of five dollars.

§ 31. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 1545.

AN ACT to incorporate the Van Buren and Chaplin Turnpike Road Com

pany.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth

of Kentucky:

§ 1. That A. J. Langsford, Wm. Ash, Hall Yowell, Commissioners. A. Goodknight, and Robert Calvert, be, and they are hereby, appointed commissioners, who, or any of them, may receive subscription to build a turnpike road from Van Buren, in Spencer county, to intersect the Johnsonsville and Chaplin Turnpike at or near the Richard Calvert farm, in Nelson county; and they may secure subscription to build said road, not to exceed six thou- Capital stock. sand dollars; and when one half of said subscription is secured, the subscribers of stock may form an organiza- May organize. tion, to be known by the name of the Van Buren and Chaplin Turnpike Road Company, with power to sue and be sued, to plead and be impleaded, in any of the courts of this Commonwealth; and said subscriptions shall be made payable to said corporation, and each twenty-five dollars of subscription to represent a share of stock. The county court of Nelson county may subscribe stock to said corporation, not to exceed five hundred dollars per mile of road to be built by said corporation in Nelson county. The said corporation shall consist of a president and three directors, the election of whom shall be annual, at a time and at a place to be fixed in the neighborhood of said road, notice of which shall be given by publication at least twenty days prior to said election. The president and directors of said road shall manage the construction thereof, as well as its repairs, and shall keep a record of their actings and doings, which shall be open at all times to the inspection of stockholders.

§ 2. That sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, of an act, entitled "An act to incorporate the Bardstown and Cedar Creek Turnpike Road Company," approved 3d of March, 1856, so far as they are applicable, be, and they are hereby, added as additional sections to this act, which shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 1546.

AN ACT to amend an act, entitled "An act to incorporate the town of New Campbellsburg, in Henry county."

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That section first of an act, entitled "An act to incorporate the town of New Campbellsburg, in Henry county," be, and the same is hereby, amended, so as to fix the boundaries of said town as follows, viz: Beginning at stone corner on the south bank of the Louisville and Cincinnati Short-Line Railway, near the corner between Walter Lancaster and George T. Hunston; thence N. 151°, W. 49 poles and 48 links, to stone corner in line of Piles and Bryant; thence N. 65°, W. 33 poles and 16 links, to stone in Bryant's field; thence S. 514o, W. 127 poles, to corner on bridge; thence S. 43°, E. 20 poles 23 links, to corner in centre of the turnpike; thence S. 88°, E. 101 poles and 2 links, to corner in Rowland Scott's field; thence N. 42°, E. 36 poles 15 links, to the begin ning.

§ 2. That section seventh of said act be, and the same is, so amended that not exceeding one acre of farming land owned by any one individual, and which may be included within the boundaries of said town, shall be taxed or assessed for taxation under said act. § 3. This act to take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 1547.

AN ACT to authorize the county court of Washing on county to issue the bonds of said county to build turnpike roads and bridges in said county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That the county judge of Washington county shall have power to issue the bonds of said county, in any sum not exceeding fifty thousand dollars, for the purpose building such turnpike roads and bridges in said county
