können die einander gegenübergestellten Sätze nur als das Zwiegespräch der Streitenden ansehen, von denen der

MORRIS Gloss. Ind. p. 322 übersetzt sie mit lies, so dass sie also mit lyezþ p. 63 gleichbedeutend wäre. Dies Verb
würde aber in den Zusammenhang durchaus nicht passen. Die Definition des Verfassers fordert reproves, blames.
Wir würden das ags. légnjan, lýgnjan, dissimulare, negare, ahd. lauganjan, negare, diffiteri, etwa in der Form
lyeznep und in etwas veränderter Bedeutung erträglich finden, wenn nicht eine stärkere Korruption aus dem ags.
