AN ACT to continue, for a further limited time, two certain Acts thereinmentioned, relating to the Watch and Night Lights in the Cities of Quebec and Montreal. W (22d March, 1825.) Cap. 6, continued. third year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled "An Act to amend an "Act passed in the fifty-eighth year of the Reign of His late Majesty George the "Third, intituled, "An Act to provide more effectually for the security of the "Cities of Quebec and Montreal, by establishing a Watch and Night Lights in "the said Cities, and for other purposes," and to increase the Funds necessary for "the purposes of the said Act," the duration of which said Acts is limited to the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-five: Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Lower-Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great-Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain "parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual provision for the Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America," and to make further provision for the Govern- "ment of the said Province;" And it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, that the said Act, passed in the fifty-eighth year of the Reign of His late Majesty George the Third, intituled, "An Act to provide more effectually for "the security of the Cities of Quebec and Montreal, by establishing a Watch and Night Lights in the said Cities, and for other purposes," as amended by an Act passed in the third year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act passed in the fifty-eighth year of the Reign of His late Majesty George the Third, intituled, "An Act to provide more effectually for "the security of the Cities of Quebec and Montreal, by establishing a Watch and Night Lights in the said Cities, and for other purposes," and to increase the "Funds necessary for the purposes of the said Act." And the said last mentioned Acts shall, respectively, further continue to be and remain in force, and all and every the duties by the said Acts respectively imposed, shall be raised, levied, col-lected and paid as therein mentioned and provided; and all and every the clauses, matters and things, in the said Acts respectively mentioned and contained, shall also further continue to be and remain in full force and effect until the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, and no longer. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that it shall be lawPeace to meet ful for the Justices of the Peace residing in the Cities of Quebec and MontCommittee of real, respectively, to assemble, pursuant to notice from the Clerks of the Peace, of the Peace duly signified to each of the said Justices acting in and for the said Cities, on Act into exe- some certain day between the twentieth and thirtieth days of April, annually, three Justices to carry this cution. during tué moyens d'en défrayer les dépenses," et un certain autre Acte passé dans la troisième année du Règne de Sa présente Majesté, intitulé," Acte pour amender un "Acte passé dans la cinquante-huitième année du Règne de feu Sa Majesté, "George Trois, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement à la sûreté des "Cités de Québec et de Montréal par l'établissement de Guets et de Flambeaux "de Nuit dans les dites Cités, et qui pourvoit aux moyens d'en défrayer les dépen"ses," et pour augmenter les fonds nécessaires au fin du dit Acte," la durée desquels dits Actes est limitée au premier jour de Mai mil huit cent vingt cinq; Qu'il soit donc statué par la Très-Excellente Majesté du Roi, par et de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Législatif et de l'Assemblée de la Province du BasCanada, constitués et assemblés en vertu et sous l'autorité d'un Acte passé dans le Parlement de la Grande-Bretagne, intitulé, "Acte qui rappelle certaines par"ties d'un Acte passé dans la Quatorzième année du Règne de Sa Majesté, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Pro"vince de Québec dans l'Amérique Septentrionale," et qui pourvoit plus ample"ment pour le Gouvernement de la dite Province;" Et il est par le présent stapar la dite autorité, que le dit Acte passé dans la cinquante-huitième année du Règne de feu Sa Majesté George, Trois, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus "efficacement à la Sûreté des Cités de Québec et de Montréal, par l'établissement de Guets et de Flambeaux de Nuit dans les dites Cités, et pour d'autres objets, et qui pourvoit aux moyens d'en défrayer les dépenses," tel qu'amendé par un Acte passé dans la troisième année du Règne de Sa présente Majesté, " intitulé, "Acte pour amender un Acte passé dans la cinquante-huitième an"née du Règne de feu Sa Majesté George Trois, intitulé," Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement à la sûreté des Cités de Québec et de Montréal par l'établissement de Guets et de Flambeaux de Nuit dans les dites Cités, et qui pour"voit aux moyens d'en défrayer les dépenses," et pour augmenter les fonds nécessaires aux fins du dit Acte," et le dit Acte mentionné en dernier lieu, continueront encore à être respectivement, et demeureront en force, et tous et chacun des droits imposés par les dits Actes respectivement, seront levés, prélevés, perçus et payés tel qu'y mentionné et pourvu, et toutes et chacune des Clauses, Matières et Choses mentionnées et contenues dans les dits Actes respectivement continueront aussi à être encore, et demeureront en pleine force et effet jusqu'au premier jour de Mai mil huit cent vingt-sept, et pas plus longtems. II. Et qu'il soit de plus statué par l'autorité susdite, qu'il sera loisible à tout Juge de Paix, résidant dans les Cités de Québec et Montréal respectivement, de s'assembler en vertu d'une notification donnée à cet effet par les Greffiers de la Paix, et duement signifiée à chacun des dits Juges de Paix, agissant dans et pour les dites Cités, à certain jour, entre les vingtième et trentième jours d'Avril, annuelle ment |
