ARCHITECT-ENGINEERING WORK DONE UNDER CONTRACT AND BY CORPS OF ENGINEERS

Mr. TABER. Last year we were told that the architect-engineer contracts amounted to 13 percent of the work design. Can you tell us what the current figure is?

General CASSIDY. I will have to supply that information for the record.

Mr. TABER. Isn't that a pretty high figure for that sort of thing? General CASSIDY. Before I make a statement on that, I would like to see how that percentage was used last year, whether it is dollarwise or workwise. I would say it is about an average figure of the past

year.

Mr. TABER. There is another table on page 76. Will you place a table in the record similar to that? (The table referred to follows:)

[blocks in formation]

Mr. TABER. Will you be able to handle the increased workload contemplated by the 1962 budget without increasing your architectengineer contract?

General CASSIDY. Yes, sir.

Mr. TABER. Will you make some progress toward reducing it?

General CASSIDY. With this contemplated reorganization and the changing of workloads, I believe that we shall be able to reduce to some extent the amount now given to architects-engineers.

NEW STARTS IN 1960 AND 1961

Mr. TABER. Will you bring up to date the tables on pages 108 through 112 of the 1961 hearings?

General CASSIDY. Yes, sir.
