The following is a statement of the date of each accident, the place where it occurred, the train, the cause and the extent of the injuries inflicted upon each person, and the name of such person as follows:

1871.

December 8. Adam Hodder, employe, killed; jumping from a stationary train to one in motion. Fish Pond.

1872.

July 4.

Darius Williamson, passenger, killed.
Mrs. Nelson Row, passenger, killed.

Frank Row, passenger, killed.

Clementina Williamson, passenger, injured.

Bridget Parks, passenger, injured.

F. Putnam, passenger, injured.

M. Calhoun, passenger, injured.

The above persons were either killed or injured by collision. Newton Switch.

July 10. Sandy Hanlon, employe, killed; fell from freight train. Newton Creek.

This road has no equipment. It has been operated, since its completion, by the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company, to which company it was leased on first day of November, 1871. That company will include in their annual report the earnings and expenses of this road.

STATEN ISLAND.

NEW YORK, January 22, 1873.

Deputy State Engineer and Surveyor, Albany:

DEAR SIR-In reply to your favor of yesterday, I beg leave to report that, on or about the 28th or 29th of March, 1872, I was, at the suit of the first mortgage bondholders, appointed receiver of the Staten Island Railroad. I filed my bond, took possession—if I remember right on the 29th of March, and held possession until 17th September, 1872. The property was sold 27th August, deed delivered on payment made 17th September. I, as receiver, remained in possession until 17th September, when, on proof required, I surrendered the property. My accounts were, as required by court decree, duly filed every month, approved and passed. The court record shows them, but if your department require or desire any information, I will most cheerfully give it, so far as my control is concerned, viz.: for any sale, receipts, expenditures and doings from 29th March to 17th September, 1872, but I am not in a position to render any further account.

I delivered the property in my hands to the purchasers, Mr. Theal and Mr. George Law, under court order and proof submitted to my counsel, that the terms of sale and purchase had been complied with in due accordance with the court order.

All of which is respectfully submitted to your department.
