NEWBURGH AND MIDLAND RAILWAY.

The undersigned beg leave to submit the following report of the Newburgh and Midland Railway Company:

The articles of association of the Newburgh and Midland Railway Company were filed May 24, 1870. (At the last session of the Legislature the time was extended two years for the commencement of construction.) The length of the proposed road is twenty-five miles, located in Orange county, connecting the city of Newburgh with the New York and Oswego Midland Railroad at or near the village of Middletown. The capital stock of the company is $250,000, in 5,000 shares, of $50 each. About $150,000 of individual subscriptions have been made to the stock of the company, of which amount the sum of $5,480 has been paid into the hands of the treasurer, and about $5,000 has been expended up to this date, principally for engineering purposes. Maps and profiles of the route have been made and filed in the clerk's office of Orange county. The city of Newburgh, under the provisions of the statute, voted to issue $500,000 in bonds, to be invested in $500,000 of the first mortgage bonds of the company. The company have advertised for proposals for the construction of the road.
