Excerpt from Greenwich: Its History, Antiquities, Improvements, and Public Buildings

IT has not been the aim of the Compiler of this small volume, to enter into a full detail of the History of Greenwich, his object being merely to give the outlines of its History, to gether with those peculiar features of the Town and immediate neighborhood which, for a long series of years, have drawn, and still continue to draw, the attention of strangers from all parts of the kingdom; at the same time, however, it has been his study to introduce every incident that could be considered either of importance or of interest to the Parishioners.
