Sewers, or at the Office or Counting-house of fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers; and that in cafe any Company or Commiffioners of Sewers shall at any Time or Times neglect to comply with any and every fuch Notice, and to obey all and every the Directions which the faid Commiffioners or Trustees or other Perfons having the Control of the Pavements in any parochial or other District, or any of them, are by this Act authorized and empowered to give, then and in every or any fuch Cafe fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers fhall for the First Neglect and Offence forfeit and shall pay the Sum of Five Pounds, and for the Second Neglect and Offence fhall forfeit and shall pay the Sum of Eight Pounds, and for the Third and every fubfequent Neglect and Offence fhall forfeit and shall pay the Sum of Ten Pounds, to be recovered in the fame Manner in which other Penalties and Forfeitures are directed to be recovered by virtue of this A&t.

XVIII. And be it further enacted, That all Dirt, Rubbish and Gravel, Filth, Rubbish, and other Things, which at Obftructions any Time or Times after the paffing of this Act occafioned in Streets by fhall be placed, collected, or occafioned by or by the Repairs means of any Water or Gas Light Company, or of Pipes, &c. Commiffioners of Sewers, or of any Repairs or to be speedily other Works executed and performed or intended to be executed and performed by their Officers or Servants, or by their Orders or Directions, or on their Account, in any Streets or public Places in any parochial or other District within the Jurifdiction of this Act, by the taking up of the Pavement of fuch Streets or public Places, or any of them, or by opening the Ground beneath the Surface of fuch Streets or public Places, or by the Execution of the Works of any Water or Gas Light Company or otherwise, or which fhall be in anywife confequent thereon or incidental thereto, in the Judgment of the Commiffioners or Trustees or other Perfons having the Control of the Pavements C

of the Streets and public Places in any fuch parochial or other District, or any Three or more of them, fhall be from Time to Time and at all Times collected and removed and carried away, by or at the Cofts and Charges of fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers, with all practicable Expedition, and to the Satisfaction of fuch Commiffioners or Trustees or other Perfons having the Control of the Pavements in fuch parochial or other District, or any Three or more of them; and that fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers fhall especially fo do whenever they shall be required fo to do by any Notice from fuch Cornmiffioners or Trustees or other Perfons having the Control of the Pavements in fuch parochial or other District, or any Three of them, or from any Surveyor of the Pavements appointed by them, figned by them or him, and given to fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers, or left for them at the Dwelling Houfe or Place of Abode of any Secretary or Clerk or Turncock employed by fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers, or at any Office or Counting-house of fuch Company, or of any Clerk or Secretary to any fuch Commiffioners of Sewers; and that in cafe any fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers fhall neglect to collect, carry away, and remove, or caufe to be collected, carried away, and removed, from all and every fuch Streets and public Places, all fuch Dirt, Gravel, Filth, Rubbish, and other Things whatfoever, within Twenty-four Hours after any fuch Notice shall be from Time to Time given or left as aforefaid, to the Satisfaction of fuch Commiffioners or Trustees, or other Perfons by whom any fuch Notice fhall be figned, then the faid Company or Commiffioners of Sewers fhall for every fuch Neglect and Offence forfeit and fhall pay the Sum of Five Pounds, to be recovered and applied in the fame Manner in which other Penalties and Forfeitures are herein-after directed to be recovered and applied by virtue of this A&t.

District for the Time being; and that any Water Company who fhall fet up or caufe to be fet up any other Stand Cock, Pump, or other Inftrument, Machine, or Thing, furnished with any other than a Metal Cock and Spout, in any Street or public Place, and which fhall not be to the Satisfaction of the Surveyor of the Pavements for fuch parochial or other District, fhall forfeit and fhall pay for every fuch Offence the Sum of Twenty Shillings, to be recovered in the fame Manner in which other Penalties and Forfeitures are herein-after directed to be recovered by virtue of this Act.

XXII. And be it further enacted, That in case any Water or Gas Light Company, or Commiffioners of Sewers, at any Time or Times after the paffing of this Act, fhall neglect to take up the Pavement in any Street or public Place in any parochial or other Diftrict within the Jurifdiction of this Act; or to open any Ground beneath the Surface of fuch Street or public Place; or substantially to repair, alter, amend, or renew any Pipe, Plug, Stop-cock, or other Thing, or any public Sewer, as the Cafe may be; or to give the Notices required by this Act to any other Company, or to any Paviors, Surveyors of Pavements, or other Perfons; or to remove or take away any Pipes or other Materials or Things from any Street or public Place; or to collect and carry away or remove all Dirt, Gravel, Filth, Rubbish, and other Things, from any Street or public Place; or to place and continue Posts, Rails, Bars, or Ropes, Lanthorns and Watchmen, in any Street or public Place; or to do and execute all and every fuch Works and Things, and all or any other Works and Things directed and required by this A&t to be done and executed by any fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers, and pursuant to any Notice given or left as herein directed by any Commiffioners or Trustees, or other Perfons having the Control of the Pavements in the Streets or public

Places

Places within any parochial or other District within the Jurifdiction of this Act; or by the Surveyors of Pavements, or other Officers or Perfons appointed by them or otherwise, and to their respective Satisfaction, and within the feveral Times and Periods specified and directed by this A&t; then and in every or any of fuch Cafes, and at all Times afterwards, it fhall and may be lawful to and for any Surveyor of the Pavement of the parochial or other District wherein the Street or public Place shall be fituate as to which any fuch Negle&t shall occur, and all and every such Surveyors are hereby empowered and required, forthwith to cause all and every fuch several Works, Matters, and Things which shall not be executed and performed by every fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers, or which fhall not be well, fubftantially, and effectually executed and performed to his or their Satisfaction, or to the Satisfaction of the Commiffioners or Trustees, or other Persons by whom he or they fhall be appointed, within the Times and Periods limited by this Act, to be well and effectually performed, to his or their Satisfaction, or to the Satisfaction of fuch Commiffioners or Trustees, or other Perfons as aforefaid, as herein provided, at the Cofts and Charges of fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers who fhall have so neglected well, substantially, and effectually to perform and execute the fame, and every of them, and every Part thereof; and that fuch Cofts and Charges and every of them fhall be reimbursed and paid by any and every fuch Company or Commiffioners of Sewers to fuch Surveyor or Surveyors of Pavements, or to the Person or Perfons employed by him or them to perform and execute any or every of fuch Works, or to the Commiffioners or Trustees, or other Perfons having the Control of the Pavements of the parochial or other District within which fuch Works fhall be performed and executed, or to their Treasurer, or to fuch other Perfon or Perfons as fuch Commiffioners or Trustees
