That Senate bill No. 18, entitled "An act to amend an act, entitled 'An act to amend clause two of section thirty-one of an act, entitled 'An act to provide for the incorporation and regulation of certain corporations,' approved the twenty-ninth day of April, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, providing for increased toll rates upon bridges in certain cases,' approved the sixth day of May, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, authorizing an increase of said tolls in certain other cases," be recommitted to the Committee on Judiciary General.

Which was agreed to.

The Senate proceeded to the first reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 19, entitled "An act validating ordinances and other transactions of boroughs in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania wherein there has occurred a misnomer, omission, informality or irregularity in the corporate name, style and title of such borough."

And said bill having been read at length the first time,

On leave given at this time,

That Senate bill No. 2, on third reading, entitled "An act to amend A supplement to an act, entitled ‘An act to consolidate, revise and amend the penal laws of this Commonwealth,' approved the thirtyfirst day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty, amending the ninety-first section thereof, defining rape and carnal knowledge of female children, and prescribing the penalty thereof,' approved the nineteenth day of May, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven," be recommitted to the Committee on Judiciary General.

Which was agreed to.

A motion was made by Mr. Brown,

Mr. White asked and obtained leave of absence for Mr. Thomson on account of sickness.

Mr. Sproul read in his place and presented to the Chair a bill, entitled "An act to prevent and punish the stealing of wire forming part of a line for the transmission of electricity."

He also read in his place and presented to the Chair a bill, entitled 'An act to prevent and punish the willful damage or injury to the poles, wires and fixtures of telephone lines."

He also read in his place and presented to the Chair a bill, entitled "An act for the prevention of idiocy."

Mr. White read in his place and presented to the Chair a bill, entitled "An act amending the third and fourth sections of the act, entitled 'An act regulating the collection of taxes in the several boroughs and townships of this Commonwealth,' approved the twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, and further regulating the collection of said taxes."

Which were referred to the Committee on Judiciary General.

He also read in his place and presented to the Chair a bill, entitled "An act making an appropriation to the Beaver County General Hospital, located at Rochester, Pennsylvania, for maintenance."

Which was committed to the Committee on Appropriations. Mr. Phillips read in his place and presented to the Chair a bill, entitled "An act supplementary to an act, entitled 'An act providing for the incorporation and government of cities of the third class," approved the twenty-third day of May, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, and the amendments thereof, enlarging, modifying, defining and prescribing the powers and duties of the city assessors elected in pursuance of article fifteen of the said act and its amendments ;relating to their qualifications, compensation and obligations, and providing that the Councils of each of the said cities shall have and exercise certain powers with reference to said Assessors, the Board of Revision and Appeal, and the assessment and collection of taxes."

Which was committed to the Committee on Municipal Affairs.
