Resolved (if the House of Representatives concur), That when the Senate adjourn to-day it be to meet on Monday evening next at nine o'clock.

The Chair laid before the Senate the report of the auditors of the Philadelphia Saving Fund Society for the year ending the thirtyfirst of December, 1904.

The Senate proceeded to the second reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 1, entitled "A joint resolution to provide for the participation of the State of Pennsylvania in the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition to be held in the city of Portland, Oregon, in the year one thousand nine hundred and five in commemoration of the one hundredth anniversary of the exploration of the Oregon country by an expedition planned by President Jefferson and commanded by Captain Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, and providing for the appointment of a Commission and making an appropriation to defray the expenses of the same."

And said bill having been read at length the second time and agreed to,

The Senate proceeded to the second reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 2, entitled "An act to amend ‘A supplement to an act entitled 'An act to consolidate, revise and amend the penal laws of this Commonwealth,' approved the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty, amending the ninety-first section thereof, defining rape and carnal knowledge of female children and prescribing the penalty thereof,' approved the nineteenth day of May, Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and eighty

seven."

The Senate proceeded to the second reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 3, entitled "An act to provide for charging the cost of construction of sewers and drains heretofore or hereafter constructed in townships of the first class against properties accommodated or benefited thereby, authorizing the township commissioners to create sewer districts to apportion the cost of sewer construction among the same and to prescribe the manner in which the charges shall be assessed on the properties and municipal liens filed for the same or to assess an annual tax for payment of such cost."

And said bill having been read at length the second time and agreed to,

The Senate proceeded to the second reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 7, entitled "An act to create the Department of Public Printing and Binding to carry out the provisions of section twelve, article three of the Constitution, in relation to the public printing and binding and the supply of paper and other materials therefor."

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the first section?

A motion was made by Mr. Woods (Allegheny),

To amend the same by inserting at the beginning of line thirtyseven the words "his or their bid and."

Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth sections. were then separately considered and agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the ninth section?

A motion was made by Mr. Woods (Allegheny),

To amend the same by striking out the word "by" after the word "printed" in line six and inserting in lieu thereof the word "for.” Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The tenth section was then agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the eleventh section?

A motion was made by Mr. Woods (Allegheny).

To amend the same by inserting after the word "Commonwealth" in line nine, the words "or for any commission created by law."

Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to

The twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth sections were then separately considered and agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the eighteenth section?

A motion was made by Mr. Woods (Allegheny).

To amend the same by striking out the word "advertisement" at the beginning of line fourteen and inserting in lieu thereof the word "advertisements."

Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The nineteenth and twentieth sections were then separately considered and agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the twenty-first section?

A motion was made by Woods (Allegheny).

To amend the same by striking out the woods "contractor or contractors" in line thirty and inserting in lieu thereof the following "person or persons having such contract for paper and other supplies."

Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The twenty-second section was then agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the twenty-third section?

A motion was made by Mr. Woods (Allegheny).

To amend the same by inserting after the word "contractors" in line twenty-five the words "for the State printing and binding." Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth sections were then separately considered and agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the twenty-sixth section?
