Resolved (if the House of Representatives concur), that when the Senate adjourns to-day it be to meet on Monday evening next at nine o'clock P. M.

Ordered, That the Clerk present the same to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Fisher,

The following resolution was twice read, considered and agreed to, viz:

Resolved, That the President pro tempore of the Senate be authorized to appoint four persons as clerks, and two persons as stenographers, to standing committees of the Senate, and to assign them to such committees as he may deem advisable; and that he be also authorized to appoint sufficient additional assistant doorkeepers to prevent intrusion on the floor of the Senate, and to maintain order in the galleries and lobbies of the Senate; payment for the same to be provided for in the general appropriation bill, not to exceed six dollars per diem.

On motion of Mr. Scott,

The following resolution was twice read, viz: :

Resolved, That Frank A. Judd, of Beaver, be elected Chief Clerk of the Senate for the term of two years.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the resolution?

A motion was made by Mr. Grim,

To amend the same by striking out the words "Frank A. Judd, Esq., of Beaver," and inserting in lieu thereof the words "Howard A. Holstein, of Dauphin county."

On the question,

Will the Senate agree so to amend the resolution?

It was decided in the negative.

The resolution was then agreed to.
