Mr. Forster from the committee appointed for the purpose on the 21st December, reported a bill, entitled

Mr. Welles from the committee to whom was referred on the 9th inst. the petition of sundry inhabitants of Bradford county, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to encourage the kill ing of wolves,' which was read the first time.

The bill, entitled

An act authorizing the Governor to incorporate a company to make an artificial road from Martin Regars in Cambria county, to intersect the road from the bank of the river opposite Harrisburg to Pittsburg, at or near Greensburg, was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk present said bill to the House of Representatives for concurrence,

An act to repeal certain parts of an act, entitled, an act for erecting the town of York in the county of York into a borough, for regulating the buildings, preventing nuisances and encroachments on the commons, squares, streets, lanes and alleys of the same, and for other purposes therein mentioned, as well as of the act supplementary thereto.'

MONDAY, January 15, 1816.

Mr. Poe presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Franklin and Adams counties, praying that a law may be passed authorizing the incorporation of a company to make a turnpike road from the Maryland line near Emmetsburg by the way of Mensors' Gap, to intersect the western turnpike at or near Lou dontown in Franklin county; and

The same was read and referred to the committee of the whole when they shall have under consideration the bill on that subject. Mr. Ewing asked and obtained leave to withdraw from the files of the present session, the petition of sundry inhabitants of the counties of Chester and Delaware, relative to the increase of banking institutions and bank paper in this commonwealth.

A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road beginning at the intersection of the Egypt road with the Ridge turnpike road, two miles above Norristown in the county of Montgomery, from thence to Pawlings ford bridge over the river Schuylkill, was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to. Ordered, That said bill be prepared for a third reading. Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Frailey in the chair, on the bill, entitled

Mr. Morgan presented the petition of the inspectors of the Philadelphia prison, praying that the present debtors apartment may be converted into a prison for the reception of untried pri soners charged with crimes, vagrants, &c. and that the new prison in Arch street may be assigned to persons confined for debt; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Morgan, Mr. Welles, Mr. Lowrie, Mr. Ross and Mr. G. Weaver.
