Mr. Reed presented the petition and document of Andrew Heaslet a soldier of the revolution, stating his services and pray. ing relief.

Which was read and referred to the committee on claims.

Mr. Reed présented the petition of sundry inhabitants of Westmoreland county, praying that a company may be incorporated to make a turnpike road from Martin Rugers to Greensburg; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Reed, Mr. Lane and Mr. McFarland, with leave to report by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Reed presented the petition of Joseph Budd and Joshua Budd praying to be authorized by law to erect a bridge over the river Youghiogany, at the place where the state road from Washington to Somerset crosses said river; and

The same was read and referred to Mr. Reed, Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Lane, with leave to report by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Morgan presented the petition of Edward W. Carr, stating that in September 1818, he was employed to repair and clean the fire arms belonging to seven companies of the 25th Regiment, P. M. that the work was accordingly performed, but that he has since been unable to obtain remuneration for his services, and praying that the legislature will order an immediate payment of his claims and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Morgan, Mr. Welles and Mr. Lane.

The bill, entitled

A supplement to the act for the relief of insolvent debtors," was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill, entitled

A further supplement to the act, entitled, an act to provide for the erection of an additional court for the city and county of Philadelphia,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill, entitled

supplement to the act, entitled, an act authorizing the governor to negotiate a loan for paying the militia and volunteers of this state, late in the service of the United States,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Orderd, That the clerk present said bills to the House of Re presentatives for concurrence.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to vest in Sarah Vernon the estate of her natural son Emmor Vernon, late of Delaware county, deceased,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be prepared for a third reading.

A motion was made by Mr. Beale and Mr. Jarrett, and read as follows, to wit.

Resolved, That the legislature will adjourn on Friday the 224

instant, to meet again at 4 o'clock P. M. on Wednesday the 27th instant..

Said resolution was again read and considered, and

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Lane in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act authorizing Mary M'Creary, one of the Guardians, of the persons and estates of the minor children of Thomas M'Creary, deceased, to execute and receive certain releases therein mentioned, and to repeal an act heretofore passed relating thereto.' And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill as committed.
On motion,

Said bill was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented for concurrence the bill, entitled

An act enabling the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road, from the state line, near the town of Emmitsburg, in the state of Maryland, through Waynesburg, Greencastle and Mercersburg, to intersect the Chambersburg and Bedford turnpike road, at or near the east end of M'Connelsburg.

He returned the bill, entitled

A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor of this commonwealth, to incorporate a company for making an artificial road, from the intersection of Front street and the Germantown road, in the Northern Liberties of the city of Philadelphia, through Frankford and Bristol to the ferry at Morrisville on the river Delaware,

And informed, That the House of Representatives have passed said bill with one amendment, in which the concurrence of Senate is requested.

He further informed, That the House of Representatives, have concurred in the amendment by Senate, to the bill, entitled

An act, vesting the title of a certain piece of land, in Somerset township, and county of Washington, in certain trustees and their successors, for the use of the German Lutheran and Calvinist Congregations, in said township.

The bill presented for concurrence, was read the first time.
The amendment to the above bill, was read as follows, viz,
Strike out the preamble.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. M'Farland in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act for the relief of Isaac Thompson an old soldier,'
And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments, which were read.

Mr. Jarrett asked and obtained leave of absence for two weeks. Adjourned until 10 o'clock to-morrow morning.

Mr. Lane from the committee to whom was referred yesterday the petition of Casper Etling on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act to confirm the titles to certain real estate therein mentioned; which was read the first time.

Mr. Frailey from the committee to whom was referred on the 6th inst. an item of unfinished business, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act to annex part of Columbia and Luzerne counties to the county of Schuylkill;' which was read the first time.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

'An additional supplement to an act, entitled, an act directing the mode of selecting and returning jurors ;' which was read the first time.

Mr. Read read a bill in his place, and on leave given, presented the same to the chair, entitled

An act supplementary to an act, entitled, an act to regulate the general elections within this commonwealth ;' which was read the first time.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. M'Sherry in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act to extend an act vesting in certain banking institu tions within this commonwealth, the power of issuing small notes." And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill without amendment. On motion,

The following title was prefixed thereto, to wit:

An act to authorise the purchase and distribution of certain copies of the new edition of the laws of the United States.' Ordered, That said bill be transcribed for a third reading.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced informed, that the House of Representatives have adopted the resolution from Senate, relative to the temporary adjournment, with the following amendment, viz. make Wednesday the 27th inst." read Tuesday the 2d day of January next;' in which the concurrence of Senate is requested.
