Schuylkill Bank in the city of Philadelphia,
March 14th, 1816.

GEORGE BRYAN, ESQ.

Auditor General,

SIR-In compliance with what is understood to be the wish of the honorable members of the legislature, and for the further satisfaction of the government, I beg leave to state that the amount of specie held by this bank on the first Monday of November last was $6,128 16.

You will please to receive this as supplementary to the abstract formerly transmitted, and I beg to communicate it through you respectively to the Speakers of the two branches of the legisla

It will probably be considered as not altogether improper, to take in connection with this statement, the facts, that although two hundred thousand dollars of the capital of this bank had been paid in previously to the 30th of August 1814, when specie payments were suspended by the banks of this city, yet its business,

before and long after that period, was entirely transacted through them; and that it was not until the 8th of November 1814, that our banking house was in a condition which admitted of our receiving deposits and conducting our business in the usual and regular way.

I am sir,

Very respectfully,

Your obedient humble servant,

W. MEREDITH.

President of the Schuylkill bank.
