Whereupon,

The Speaker signed said bills.

The amendments by the House of Representives to the resolution on the subject of obstructions to the navigation of the river Delaware, were read as follow, viz.

The amendments by the House of Representatives, to the bill, entitled

'An act to authorize the settlement of certain accounts of William Hamilton, late a lieutenant colonel in the service of the United States,' were read as follow, viz.

Add thereto two sections as follow, viz.

Section 2. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That the state treasurer be, and he is hereby directed, to pay to John L. Pearson, or order, the sum eight hundred and fifty-five dollars, in full, for rations furnished the detachment of militia under his command, late in the public service.

Section 3. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That the accountant officers of this commonwealth be, and they are hereby authorized and required, to adjust and settle the accounts of John Phillips, late paymaster of Pennsylvania militia in the service of the United States, for monies expended by him under the act of the 27th day of February, 1813, on their receiving muster and pay rolls authenticated in the usual form and manner, and that the said officers be authorized to admit to the credit of the said John Phillips, such sums of money as he shall by proper vouchers shew, have been paid to commissioned officers for the use of a private or privates of the company or regiment to which such officer belonged; and may, with the approbation of the Governor, allow the said John Phillips, such compensation in addition to what is already provided for, as the nature of his services may seem to them to require.

Strike out the preamble.

Amend the title so as to read, An act to authorize the settlement of certain accounts of William Hamilton, John L. Pearson and John Philips.'

On motion of Mr. Forster and Mr. Jarrett,

The amendments by the House of Representatives to the bill, entitled

'An act to enable the executors of Walter Clark, deceased,

to convey a certain tract of land,' read on the 14th instant, were again read, and

On the question,

Will Senate concur in said amendments?

It was determined in the negative.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the House of Representatives accordingly.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr, Shearer in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act supplementary to an act, entitled, an act giving additional powers to, and changing the mode of appointment of the inspectors of the prison in Philadelphia, and for other purposes.' And after some time,

The committee rose, reported progress, and asked leave to sit again; leave was granted, and

Ordered, That the committee of the whole sit again on Monday next.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Shearer in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to authorize the Governor of this commonwealth to incorporate a company for the purpose of making and erecting a bridge and road over the north east branch of the river Susquehanna in the county of Northum berland, from the public highway opposite the plantation of Thomas Grant to Shamokin Island, through the public highway of Shamokin Island to the shore opposite Northumberland, and from thence to the town of Northumberland.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported the same with amendments. On motion,

Said bill was read the second time.

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Shoemaker in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act vesting the superintendant of police of the district of Southwark, and the superintendant of police of the incorporated district of the Northern Liberties, with powers similar to those granted at present by law to the constables of said districts.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported the same without amend

ment.

On motion,

Said bill was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.

Agreeably to order,

The rule for going into a committee of the whole being in this case dispensed with, the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

• An act relative to the incorporation of a company for erecting a bridge over the river Delaware at Columbia Glass Manufactory,' was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. G. Weaver in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act establishing an academy in the borough of Huntingdon, in the county of Huntingdon, and one at the seat of justice in the county of Susquehanna.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported the same with amendments. On motion,

Said bill was read the second time.

The several sections were considered and agreed to.

The title being amended by striking therefrom the words at the seat of justice,' and inserting the town of Montrose,' was agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be prepared for a third reading.
Whereupon,

On motion, and by special order.

Said bill was read the third time, and
Resolved, That it pass.

Ordered, That the clerk return said bill to the House of Representatives, with information that Senate have passed the same. with amendments, in which the concurrence of that house is requested.

On motion of Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Lowrie,

The following resolution was twice read, considered and adopted, to wit.

Resolved, That the table explanatory of sundry technical law terms,' inserted immediately following the preface, in a treatise in possession of Senate, entitled, A collection of all the public and permanent acts of Assembly of Kentucky which are now in force, &c. &c. by Harry Toulmin, secretary of the commonwealth of Kentucky,' be printed in the appendix to the journal of Senate.

On motion of Mr. Beale and Mr. McSherry,

The Senate adjourned until 3 o'clock this afternoon.

SAME DAY-IN THE AFTERNOON.

On motion,

The amendments by the House of Representatives, to the bill, entitled

An act to authorize the settlement of certain accounts of William Hamilton, late a lieutenant colonel in the service of the United States,' read this morning were again read, and the same being under consideration,

A motion was made by Mr. Lowrie and Mr. Frailey,

To postpone the further consideration thereof until Monday next, which was agreed to.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. I. Weaver in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to continue and revive the act, entitled, an act to encourage the warranting and patenting of lands north and west of the rivers Ohio and Allegheny, and Conewango creek, and for other purposes."

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported the same with one amendment.

On motion,

Said bill was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.
