Ordered, That Mr. Sutherland be discharged from the committee appointed under the Act for the better preservation and increase of the library of this Commonwealth, and that Mr. J. Bucher be appointed in his stead.'

Mr. Ross presented a petition from Adoness Newberry, widow and administratrix of the estate of Benjamin Newberry, deceased, praying to be authorized to make a deed to the widow or heirs of Soloman Chapin, for lot No. 3, in the second tier of lots in the township of Northumberland, and

Said petition was read, and laid on the table.

Mr. Frailey from the committee of accounts, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit.

That they have settled the account of Nicholas Biddle, a member of Senate, for his daily pay and 'mileage during the present

They therefore offer the following resolution, viz. Resolved, That the Speaker draw his warrant in favour of Nicholas Biddle, for four hundred and thirty dollars and sixty

cents.

On motion,

Said report was again read, and the resolution thereto attached, considered and adopted.

Whereupon,

A warrant was accordingly so drawn.

Mr. M'Sherry, from the committee appointed for that purpose, made report in part, which was read as follows, to wit.

That in conjunction with a similar committee from the House of Representatives, they have compared and this day presented to the Governor for his approbation, the bills entitled as follow:

An act to enable the Governor to subscribe to a certain number of shares in the stock of certain turnpike companies." 'An act for holding special courts of common pleas.'

A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the west branch of the river Susquehanna from the east end of Market street in the town of Lewisburg in the county of Union, to the opposite shore.'

An act to provide for the erection of two arsenals.'

An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company fer erecting a bridge over the north east branch of the river Susquehanna, between the town of Catawissa and the mouth of Fishing creek.'

On motion of Mr. Beale and Mr. Power,

The report of the committee appointed on the petition of John Patton, read on the 21st December, was again read, and the resolution thereto attached was considered and adopted.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act authorizing the Governor to incorporate four companies for making an artificial road from the town of Washington in this state, to intersect the Harrisburg and Pittsburg turnpike road, at or near the town of Bedford,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

'An act to declare certain creeks within this commonwealth public highways,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the river Susquehanna at the town of Danville, near where the turnpike terminates on said river, in the county of Columbia,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk return said bills to the House of Representatives, with information that Senate have passed the same, the former without, and the two latter with amendments, in which the concurrence of that house is requested.

A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to incorporate an academy or public school in the town of Waterford, and for other purposes,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to, and Ordered, That it be transcribed for a third reading.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented an extract from the journal of that house, which was read as follows, viz.

'On motion,

"In the House of Representatives,

Ordered, That Mr. Conyngham be discharged from the committee appointed under the law passed for the better preservation and increase of the library of this Commonwealth, and that Mr. Reily be appointed in his stead.'

On motion of Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Graham,

The amendments by the House of Representatives, to the bill, entitled

An act directing the formation of a map of Pennsylvania,' read on the 12th instant, were again read, considered and concurred in, with verbal amendments thereto.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the House of Representatives accordingly.

The resolution from the House of Representatives, read on the 9th instant, relative to procuring certain imposts on foreign manufacturies, was again read, and considered, and
