Mr. G. Weaver obtained leave to withdraw from the files of the present session, the documents relating to the estate of Israel Bringhurst, and also the petition and documents of Jacob Croll and Michael Croll.

Mr. Smith from the committee appointed for the purpose yesterday, reported a

Resolution authorizing the Surveyor General to renew the seal of his office,' which was read the first time.

Mr. Frailey from the committee of accounts, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit.

That they have settled the account of Joseph Shannon, a member of Senate, for his daily pay from the 5th day of December last to the 9th day of March, both days included-96 days, 500 miles, 459 dollars: They offer the following resolution, viz.

Resolved, That the Speaker draw his warrant in favor of Joseph Shannon for four hundred and fifty-nine dollars.

On motion,

Said report was again read, and the resolution thereto attached being under consideration,

A motion was made by Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Jarrett,

That said report be re-committed to the same committee, with instructions to report together the daily pay and mileage of each of the members, and

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the

west branch of the river Susquehanna from the east end of Market street in the town of Lewisburg in the county of Union, to the opposite shore,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk return said bill to the House of Representatives, with information that Senate have passed the same with an amendment, in which the concurrence of that house is requested.

The amendment was,

Strike out the proviso and insert in lieu thereof the following, to wit.

That the subscription and payments authorized to be made by virtue of this act, shall for every share subscribed and paid, vest in the commonwealth all the rights, estates and emoluments appertaining to a share or shares held by individual stockholders,. and as often as a dividend shall be declared by the directors, the proportion thereof due to the state shall be paid into the treasury of the commonwealth."

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act for the prevention of vice and immorality, and of unlawful gaming, and to restrain disorderly sports and dissipation, passed the 22d day of April one thousand seven hundred and ninety-four,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday. Sections now 1. to 4. were severally considered and agreed to. Section now 5. being under consideration,

A motion was made by Mr. Lowrie and Mr. Beale,

To postpone the further consideration of said section for the present, for the purpose of introducing a new section in the words following, to wit.

Sect. 5. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That from and after the 1st day of October next, any person or persons who may travel on the first day of the week (commonly called Sunday) in any carriage of pleasure drawn by one or more horses, every person so offending shall for every such offence be subjected to the penalties prescribed in this act and the act to which this is a supplement. Provided, That nothing herein contained shall prevent any person or persons from using their carriages in going to and returning from divine service, or in going to or returning from funerals on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday.

An act to authorize the surveyor of the township of the Northern Liberties in the county of Philadelphia, to re-survey, lay out and regulate Slesman's alley in the incorporated district of the Northern Liberties,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Smith in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to provide for the erection of two arsenals.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented for concurrence, the bills, entitled as follow, viz.

'An act to review part of the state road from the mouth of Beaver creek, to the top of the hill north-west of Greensburg.' An act for the relief Benjamin Jennings, an old revolutionary soldier.'

He returned the bill, entitled

• An act to enable Edward Duffield and Joseph K. Swift, executors of John Swift, deceased, to sell and convey a certain tract of land therein mentioned.'

And informed,

That the House of Representatives have passed said bill with one amendment, in which the concurrence of Senate is requested. He presented for signature, the bills, entitled as follow, viz.

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company to make an artificial road by the best and nearest route from the west end of the borough of York, to the borough of Gettysburg in the county of Adams.'

An additional supplement to an act, entitled, an act authorizing the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from the bank of the river Susquehanna opposite Harrisburg to Pittsburg.'

An act to authorize George Eisenhuth, George Orwig, John Orwig and Jacob Orwig, to dig, establish and support a mill race on the north side of Penn's creek near the town of New Berlin, in the county of Union.'

An act making an appropriation for the erection of piers in the river Delaware, at the borough of Chester, in Delaware county.'

An act to erect the town of Indiana in the county of Indiana, into a borough.'

An act to provide for the election of a constable in the borough of Columbia, in the county of Lancaster.?
