The bill, entitled

An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company to erect a bridge over the river Schuylkill, at or near Hamburg in the county of Berks,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be transcribed for a third reading.

A motion was made by Mr. Frailey and Mr. Shoemaker, and read as follows, to wit.

Resolved, That the state treasurer lay before Senate a statement of the whole amount of monies received at the treasury under the 10th section of the act, entitled An act regulating banks,' specifying particularly the day when paid, and the amount received from each respective bank.

Ordered, To lie on the table.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Shoemaker in the chair, on the resolution from the House of Representatives,

Relative to an uniform system of weights and measures.'

Ordered, That the committee of the whole sit again on Saturday next.

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. McFarland in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act making further provision for the support of the board of wardens for the port of Philadelphia.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments. The Speaker laid before the Senate a letter from William Boyd, declining to accept the appointment of a director for the Bank of Pennsylvania.

Which was read and laid on the table.

On motion,

Ordered, That the election of a director of the said Bank of Pennsylvania, be the order of the day for to-morrow.

Adjourned until 10 o'clock to-morrow morning.

FRIDAY, February 16, 1816.

The Speaker laid before the Senate a letter from the Secretary of the Commonwealth, stating that he has transmitted to the House of Representatives sundry depositions and cross examinations taken in the case of John Morrison, a justice of the peace in and for the county of Lancaster; and

The same was read and laid on the table.

Mr. Beale presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Mifflin county, praying that the legislature will appropriate five hundred dollars to aid in the completion of a road from Union township to the borough of Lewistown; and

Said petition was read and referred to the committee on roads and inland navigation.

Mr. Smith presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of the borough of Columbia, praying that they may be authorized to elect an additional constable; and

The same was read and referred to Mr. Smith, Mr. Jarrett and Mr. Shoemaker, with leave to report by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Smith also presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster county, praying that certain alterations may be made in the existing laws relative to the condemnation and sale of real estate under judgments and mortgages; and

The same was read aud referred to Mr. Smith, Mr. Lane and Mr. Murray.

Mr. Smith also presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster county, praying certain alterations in the fee bill, so far as the same relates to sheriff's poundage; and

The same was read and referred to Mr. Smith, Mr. Lowrie and Mr. Welles.

Mr. Smith also presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster county, praying that a law may be passed to prevent the imprisonment of insolvent debtors, unless there should be strong presumption of fraud; and

Said petition was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary system.

Mr. Smith presented another petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster county, praying that a law may be passed, enacting that in all cases where suits are brought on negotiable notes, the property of the drawer may first be condemned or disposed of; and

The same was read and referred to Mr. Biddle, Mr. Ross and Mr. Frailey.

Mr. Smith also presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster county, praying that a law may be passed to define

what shall constitute the right of freehold, and when a freeholder shall be debarred from his privilege; and

Said petition was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary system.

Mr. Forster from the committee to whom was referred on the 9th inst. the petition of William Hamilton, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act for the relief of William Hamilton, late a lieut. colonel of riflemen in the service of the United States,' which was read the first time.

Mr. Murray from the committee to whom was referred on the 14th inst. the petition of sundry inhabitants of Chillesquaque township, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to extend the boundaries of Columbia county,' which was read the first time.

Mr. Erwin from the committee to whom was referred on the 14th inst. the petition of Eugenia Moreau, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act to enable John S. Roulet, executor of the last will and testament of Victor Moreau, deceased, to sell and convey certain real estate therein mentioned,' which was read the first time.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented for concurrence the bill, entitled

An act directing the sale of certain lots in the towns of Beaver and Allegheny."

And informed,

That the House of Representatives have concurred in the amendments by Senate, to the bills, entitled as follow, viz.

An act to extend the act, entitled, an act to prevent the disturbance of religious societies within the city of Philadelphia during the time of divine service, passed the 4th day of April 1798, to the incorporated district of the Northern Liberties in the county of Philadelphia.'

A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from Harrisburg through Lewistown and Huntingdon to Pittsburg.'

An act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from Henry Hews' in the county of Lycoming, by the best and nearest route to Aaron Bloss' in the county of Tioga.'

The bill presented for concurrence was read the first time.

To postpone the further consideration of said section together with the bill for the present, which was agreed to.

The bill, entitled

An act making further provision for the support of the board of wardens for the port of Philadelphia,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to.

On motion of Mr. Baily and Mr. Ewing,

The Senate proceeded to the second reading and consideration of the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

'A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for the purpose of making an artificial road from the Philadelphia and Lancaster turnpike road between the twenty-three mile stone and the Admiral Warren tavern, to the point where the Reading road intersects the Morgantown road to the west of Jones's tavern in Berks county.' The first and only section having been considered.

On the question,

Will Senate agree to said section ?
