Mr. Forster presented the petition of William Hamilton, praying that the Auditor General may be authorized to settle the account of John Burg, jun. quarter-master to a regiment of riflemen under the command of the said William Hamilton, late in the service of the United States; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Forster, Mr. Jarrett and Mr. McFarland.

Mr. Frailey presented two petitions of similar tenor from sundry inhabitants of the county of Berks, praying that a company may be incorporated for the purpose of erecting a bridge over the river Schuylkill near or opposite to the town of Hamburg in said county; and

Said petitions were read and referred to Mr. Frailey, Mr. G. Weaver and Mr. Hopkins, with leave to report by bill or other

wise.

Mr. Poe presented two petitions of similar tenor from sundry inhabitants of Franklin county, praying that commissioners may be appointed to review that part of the road from Carlisle to Littleton, which is between the town of Roxbury in Franklin county and James Jamisons' tavern in Bedford county; and

Said petitions were read and referred to the committee on roads and inland navigation.

Mr. Beale presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Huntingdon and Bedford counties, remonstrating against the ap

pointment of commissioners as prayed for in the preceding petition; and

The same was read and referred to the last named committee." Mr. Reed from the committee to whom was referred on the 26th January the petition of sundry inhabitants of Indiana county, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act to authorize the Governor to appoint commissioners to review a road from Indiana to Pittsburg, which was read the first time.

Mr. Lowrie from the committee to whom was referred on the 7th inst. the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act releasing the right of this commonwealth in certain escheated estate, late the property of Dennis Dunn, deceased, to Joseph A. Wigmore, Francis Wigmore and Ann Wigmore,' reported said bill as committed to them, and the same was read the first time.

Mr. M.Sherry from the committee appointed for the purpose, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit.

That in conjunction with a similar committee from the House of Representatives, they have compared, and this day presented to the Governor for his approbation, the bills, entitled as fol-. low, viz.

'An act to enable Joseph Crawford and William Hamill, executors of the last will and testament of William Clennal an alien, late of Montgomery county, deceased, to convey certain real estate.'

An act to enable the representatives of Thomas Allibone, late of the city of Philadelphia, deceased, who are of full age, and the guardian of those who are minors, to convey and assure a lot of ground in the Northern Liberties of the city of Philadelphia.?

An act for the improvement of a road beginning at the point where the Coshecton and Great Bend turnpike passes through the Moosic mountain in a western direction to the west line of the state, and for other purposes.'

An act authorizing Joseph Budd and Joshua Budd to build a toll bridge across the Youghiogeny river in Westmoreland county,' was read the third time, and

Ordered, That the clerk present said bills to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

• An act authorizing and empowering John Moore to execute a title to George Forney for a certain real estate therein mentioned," was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

'The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act granting a sum of money to aid in removing obstructions out of Sheerman's creek,' was read the third time, and Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from Jersey shore in the county of Lycoming, by the best and nearest route to Coudersport in the county of Potter,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk return said bills to the House of Representatives, with information that Senate have passed the same, the former without, and the two latter with amendments, in which the concurrence of that house is requested.

The bill, entitled

An act to enable the executors of Valentine Kloess to sell certain real estate,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday.

Whereupon, on motion,

Ordered, That said bill be re-committed to a special committee, and That Mr. Jarrett, Mr. Morgan and Mr. Shannon be the committee.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act appropriating certain militia fines to the improvement of public roads,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be prepared for a third reading.

The bill, entitled.

An act to authorize the Governor incorporate a company to erect a bridge over the river Juniata at the borough of Huntingdon,' was read the second time as reported by a committee yesterday, considered by section and agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be transcribed for a third reading.
Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Jarrett in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

'An act to revive and extend certain acts therein mentioned, relative to the building of bridges over the Monongahela and AIlegheny rivers opposite Pittsburg, and to authorize the Governor to subscribe for a certain number of shares to the stock of the same.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments. The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented for concurrence the bill, entitled

• An act making an appropriation for the erection of piers in the river Delaware, at the borough of West Chester, in Delaware county,' which was read the first time.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Lane in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act to incorporate the city of Pittsburg.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments. Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Lowrie in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act authorizing James Wilson of York county, to convey the right to a tract of land of Mary Wilson, a lunatic, and for other purposes.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with amendments. Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Maghee in the chair, on the resolution from the House of Representatives,

Relative to postage on journals, &c.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported the resolution negatived.

SATURDAY, February 10, 1816.

Mr. I. Weaver presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Greene county, praying that a law may be passed to compel the owners of unseated lands to pay a reasonable compensation for improvements made by settlers on said land; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. I. Weaver, Mr. Shannon, Mr. Morgan, Mr. Graham and Mr. Ross.

Mr. Welles from the committee to whom was referred on the 12th January, an item of unfinished business relative to the widow and heirs of William Ellis, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act to enable Mercy Ellis, Joseph Whitacre and Samuel W. Morris, guardians of the minor children of William Ellis, late of Lycoming county, deceased, to sell and convey certain real estate therein mentioned,' which was read the first time.

Mr. Frailey from the committee of accounts, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit."

That they have examined the accounts and vouchers of Joseph A. M Jimsey, clerk of Senate, on account of fifteen hundred dollars placed in his hands by two warrants, one dated the 19th of January 1815 for five hundred dollars, and one other warrant dated the 13th of March 1815 for one thousand dollars, to enable him to pay sundry printers, wood and other contingencies, and find a balance due to him of thirteen dollars and seven cents.
