The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Biddle in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to authorize the administrators of Thomas Huchison to convey certain real estate.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill as committed.

On motion,

Said bill was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Erwin in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act for holding special courts of common pleas.'

And after some time,

The committee rose, reported progress, and asked leave to sit again; leave was granted, and

Ordered, That the committee of the whole sit again on Saturday next.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Shearer in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act releasing the right of this commonwealth in certain escheated estate, late the property of Dennis Dunn, deceased, to Joseph A. Wigmore, Francis Wigmore and Ann Wigmore."

And after some time,

The committee rose, reported progress and asked leave to sit again; leave was not granted.

Whereupon, on motion,

Ordered, That said bill be referred to a special committee, and That Mr. Lowrie, Mr. Reed, Mr. Maghee, Mr. Baily and Mr. Jarrett be the committee.

On motion of Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Graham,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the report of the committee of the whole, negativing yesterday, the first section of the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

'An act granting a sum of money to aid in removing obstructions out of Sheerman's creek.' And

On the question,

Will Senate agree to said report ?

Section 1. being under consideration,

A motion was made by Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Graham,

To postpone the further consideration of said section, together with the bill for the present, which was agreed to.

On motion of Mr. Morgan and Mr. Lowrie,

The Senate resumed the second reading of the bill, entitled An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company for erecting a permanent bridge over the river Delaware at Stockport in Wayne county,' postponed for the present on the 19th January.

Section 9. recurring, was considered and agreed to.

The remaining sections and title having been agreed to,
Ordered, That said bill be transcribed for a third reading,
Adjourned until 10 o'clock to-morrow morning.

THURSDAY, February 8, 1816.

Mr. Shoemaker obtained leave of absence for a few days. Mr. Poe presented the petition of Charles Tipper, an old seldier, stating his services and praying relief; and

The same was read and referred to the committee on claims. Mr. Baily presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster county, praying that a law may be passed appropriating one thousand dollars to be expended in making roads within one mile of M'Call's ferry bridge; and

Said petition was read and laid on the table.

Mr. Lowrie presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Butler and Armstrong counties, praying that part of Armstrong may be attached to the county of Butler; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Lowrie, Mr. Reed and Mr. Power.

Mr. Shearer from the committee to whom was referred on the 6th inst. the petition of the guardians of the minor children of Edward Swift, deceased, reported a bill, entitled

An act to enable Edward Duffield and Joseph K. Swift, executors of John Swift, deceased, to sell and convey a certain tract, of land therein mentioned,' which was read the first time.

The bill, entitled

An act providing for the sale of the State House and State House square in the city of Philadelphia,' was read the the third time, and

On the question,

Shall this bill pass?

The yeas and nays were required by Mr. Frailey, and Mr. Lowrie and are as follow, to wit.

On motion of Mr. Baily and Mr. Ewing,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the report of the committee of the whole, negativing on the 5th inst. the first and only section of the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

"A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for the purpose of making an artificial road from the Philadelphia and Lancaster turnpike road between the twenty-three mile stone and the Admiral Warren tavern, to the point where the Reading road intersects the Morgantown road to the west of Jones's tavern in Berks county.'

On the question,

Will Senate agree to said report?

The Secretary of the Commonwealth being introduced, presented a message from the Governor, which was read as follows, to wit.

To the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."

I have this day approved and signed the following acts of the General Assembly, and directed the Secretary of the Commonwealth to return them to the houses in which they respectively originated, viz.

1. An act to incorporate the Bridgeport Manufacturing Company.

2. A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act to erect the town of Somerset in Somerset county, into a borough.

3. An act supplementary to an act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from the Spring House tavern in Montgomery county, to the borough of Northampton in the county of Lehigh, and to the town of Bethlehem in the county of Northampton.

4. An act to extend an act vesting in certain banking institutions within this commonwealth, the power of issuing small notes.

5. An act authorizing the Governor to incorporate the York Water Company.

6. A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company to make a lock navigation in the river Schuylkill.

7. An act establishing an academy in the borough of Lebanon, in the county of Lebanon,

8. An act authorizing the election of a constable in the borough of Greensburg.

9. A supplement to the act authorizing Andrew Bozorth and Doctor Phineas Jenks, executors of the last will and testament of Hannah Dyer, deceased, to sell and convey a certain tract of land therein mentioned.
