An act for the relief of Michael Wheeland an old soldier.? A supplement to the act, entitled, an act appropriating certain militia fines to the improvement of public roads." He presented for signature, the bill, entitled

An act for the better accommodation of the diseased poor in the city of Philadelphia, the district of Southwark and the township of the Northern Liberties.'

The bills presented for concurrence were read the first time. The Speaker signed the bill presented for signature.

On motion of Mr. Lowrie and Mr. Power, and by special order, The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act appropriating certain militia fines to the improvement of public roads.'

Whereupon, on motion,

Ordered, That said bill be referred to a special committee, and that Mr. Lowrie, Mr. Lane and Mr. M'Farland be the committee. Mr. McSherry from the committee appointed for the purpose, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit. That in conjunction with a similar committee of the House of Representatives, they have compared and this day presented to the Governor for his approbation, the bill, entitled

An act for the better accommodation of the diseased poor in the city of Philadelphia, the district of Southwark and the township of the Northern Liberties.'

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Frailey in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act authorizing the administrators of Israel Bringhurst to convey a certain tract of land.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill as committed.

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Graham in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act authorizing the election of a constable in the borough of Greensburg.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with one amendment, which was read.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Erwin in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

'An act for the relief of Agnes Hurst, formerly the wife of Robert M'Kellop a revolutionary soldier, deceased.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill with an amendment, which was read.

The Secretary of the Commonwealth being introduced, presented a message from the Governor, which was read as follows, to wit.

To the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

I have this day approved and signed the act, entitled

An act for the better accommodation of the diseased poor in the city of Philadelphia, the district of Southwark and the township of the Northern Liberties;' and directed the Secretary of the Commonwealth to return the same to the House of Representatives in which it originated."

Mr. Reed presented the petition of the members of the German Calvinist, German Lutheran and English Presbyterian churches in the borough of Greensburg, praying that they may be authorized to raise by way of lottery a certain sum of money to aid them in the completion of two buildings as places of public worship in said borough; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Reed, Mr. Power and Mr. Hopkins.

Mr. Barnitz presented the petition and documents of John Kroh, only surviving executor of Peter Olinger, late of York county, deceased, praying that provision may be made for the redemption of a certain certificate of Pennsylvania funded debt; and

The same was read and referred to Mr. Barnitz, Mr. I. Weaver and Mr. Ewing.

Mr. Rogers from the committee appointed for the purpose on the 29th inst. reported a bill, entitled

An act to relinquish the claims of this commonwealth, on

account of clothing and blankets furnished to certain volunteers and militia in the year 1814,' which was read the first time. Mr. Lowrie from the committee to whom was yesterday referred the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act appropriating certain militia fines to the improvement of public roads,' reported said bill with one amendment, which was read.

The bill, entitled

An act for the relief of James Moore of Beaver county,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be transcribed for a third reading.

The report of the committee on claims relative to the petition of Eleanor Foy, read on the 11th inst. was again read, and The resolution being under consideration,

A motion was made by Mr. Maghee and Mr. Ewing,

To refer said resolution and report to the committee of the whole when they shall have under consideration the bill, entitled

• An act for the relief of certain widows and children of those who died whilst in the service of this state during the late war with Great Britain,' which was disagreed to, and the resolution adopted.

Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Hopkins in the chair, on the bill, entitled

An act providing for the sale of the State House and the lot of ground attached thereto, in Philadelphia.'

THURSDAY, February 1, 1816.

Mr. Smith presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lancaster and York counties, praying a repeal of certain provisions contained in the act of the last legislature relative to fisheries in the river Susquehanna; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Smith, Mr. Forster, Mr. Welles, Mr. Murray, Mr. Morgan, Mr. Lowrie and Mr. Frailey.

Mr. Morgan from the committee to whom was referred on the 16th January, the petition of the inspectors of the Philadelphia prison, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act to authorize the removal of the prisoners confined in the jail or debtor's apartment in the city of Philadelphia to the new prison, and for other purposes,' which was read the first time.

The Speaker laid before the Senate a letter from the Auditor" General with the document therein referred to, which were read as follow, to wit.

SIR-In the statement furnished you of the state of the "Pennsylvania, Agricultural and Manufacturing Bank," it was omitted to designate the amount of specie in the vaults from the other cash on hand. We now beg leave to correct the same, and return the amount of specie at $ 19,665, and treasury notes to the amount of $4,220.
